Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Look, you can Hate BSA all you want, Ive seen several judges on the news today talking about how this ruling doesnt stand a chance because it is blatantly unconstitutional.
It's not. Read your Civil Rights Act, please. Legally, the state's practice of giving the BSA a massive discount on land lease is equivalent to the state subsidizing the BSA. And, as we all know, the fact that the state does not officially subsidize the BSA was the key issue in the BSA's successful case against the discrimination lawsuits.

Here's your cake, BSA. No, you may not partake.
If churches paid taxes it would make them the only non profit organization to do so.
This I agree with. As long as churches follow all the statutes specific to NPOs.

Barton has been discredited.

Here is a short synopsis of his accomplishments.

David is the recipient of several national and international awards, including the Daughters of the American Revolution Medal of Honor; the George Washington Medal of Honor; several Angel Awards, and a Telly Award for excellence in media and educational medium; Who’s Who in America (1997, 1999); Who’s Who in the World (1996, 1999); Who’s Who in American Education (1996, 1997); International Who’s Who of Professionals (1996); Two Thousand Notable American Men Hall of Fame (1995); Who’s Who in the South and Southwest (1995, 1999); Who’s Who Among Outstanding Americans (1994); Outstanding Young Men in America (1990); and numerous other awards. The Texas State Board of Education appointed David to help develop the History/Social Studies standards for Texas students (TEKS; 1997). David was selected by the California Academic Standards Commission to help develop History/Social Science Standards for California students (1998) and was also involved in the review process for history standards in several other states. Additionally, David has testified at several legislative proceedings on public policies for teaching history in the classroom.

He definitely sounds like someone who needs to be discredited.

He makes up quotes and attributes them to the Founding Fathers. He is a fraud.

Even if you took church and state to the extreme. the only way the law would apply is if you convicted the Boy Scouts of America of being a religious group... a church.

The Supreme Court recently sided with them, this will be turned over, not because you have to agree or disagree with their view of homosexuals, but to deny someone access to anything public because of their view on homosexuality is illegal. It is so illegal they are looking for a way to get the judge impeached.

The Boy Scouts themselves claim they are a religious organization, this is their basis for discriminating.

The Boy Scouts are a religious group since they require belief in a supernatural being for membership. Agnostics and atheists are banned from membership. One doesn't have to be a church to be a religious group.

The Supreme Court ruled that since the Boy Scouts were not sponsored by the government, they were allowed to discriminate like any private organization. However, the other edge of this sword is that it cannot at the same time recieve special treatment and discriminate. This most recent ruling involved a deal between San Diego and the Boy Scouts which allowed the Boy Scouts to lease 18 acres of land for $1 a year. Since other organizations would have to pay much, much more for the same lease, the city of San Diego is giving the Boy Scouts preferential treatment, which it cannot do.

Well, considering that he made up quotes and attributed them to the Founding Fathers, thus making him a fraud, yes! He does deserve to be discredited! :)

Show me where he made up these quotes. As I pointed out before someone who has won as many awards as Barton doesn't need to make up quotes.

I have provided links above. Please read them. You might try this one example. There are many others. The man is a fraud.

I'm sorry I would prefer to believe in the man with the credentials and awards I have provided rather than opinion's. However, I emailed Barton's web site and asked them to provide an answer to your claims so when I receive one it will be posted here.

I suggest that you look over the links I provided. The number of misquotes and false quotes that Barton has published is HUGE. Those are not opinions that are provided. It is a fact that the quotes are wrong.

It's not surprising to me that those on the left, or those who disagree with Barton would try to discredit him. I have looked at one of your links and I will wait for a response from his web site.

Be sure to ask them to demonstate that Barton's quotes were real. There are a huge number of quotes that he makes that no one has ever been able to locate in any of the historical documents.

If they can do this then undoubtedly he will be famous as he will have discover volumes of important historical docuements otherwise unknown to anyone but him.

I look forward to reading the otherwise unknown writings of Jefferson, Madison and others.

To one determined to believe he is right, no matter what the evidence shows, no amount of evidence will be sufficient. You have decided to believe in Barton despite his demonstrated and obvious track record of lying. I have no intention to try to persuade you otherwise, because my efforts will be fruitless.

And I have demonstrated that a man who has won as many awards as he has will be attacked for his credibility. I'm not surprised that people try to discredit him. You have not demonstrated anything to me that he has any track record of lying. And as for not trying to convince me fruther, fine suit yourself.

There is no reason why the Boy Scouts should be denied that park, and there is also no reason that Boy Scouts should have excluded all gays and atheists.

Rather if they did not exclude gays or atheists there would be no reason to deny them the park. But while they do the government should not be subsidizing them.
