Personally I would never have an abortion. I don't believe in it. But, if someone got an abortion, I wouldn't treat them any different. I'm not their judge, God is. Now, if there was a law, attempting to be passed to keep people from getting abortion..I would vote againts it. To you that might sound stupid. I mean, you're probably saying "she doesn't believe in abortion but she wants it to be around?" Well, here's my reasoning. Abortion is a personal issue. The government should have no control over it. There are certin things that the government should never have a say-so on and that is just one of those things. If some 12 year old girl got raped, and then got pregnate because of that rape...I think that she should have the right to choose if she wanted to keep the kid or not. If a women was pregnate and then so many complications showed up that the docters told her if she haves the baby it will 100% kill her, then I think she has the choice to choose if she wants to live or not. (and you can't tell me that that doesn't happen because one of my old pastor's friends, who happens to be a pastor, his wife went through the same situation.). It should never be a government decision. It's each and every person's conviction wether they should get one or not.

Let me just advocate for a minute. Many children are born into horrible poverty to mothers who are barely able to support themselves, much less a child. Poor, inner city girls become pregnant out of stupidity and the baby is used as a trophy that a "man" and I use the word loosely, found them attractive for one night. These mothers are usually teenagers, and use that baby to prove they are now women. These babies are often neglected, abused, and worse. They don't know their fathers, and live in the worst conditions. Does an child deserve that?
What does this have to do with the question at hand?

I wonder,,, is killing any one a 'personal issue' or just the pre-born?

me personally, i hate it, everyone has the right to live. but maybe in the case of rape it should be accepted.

although it should not be frowned upon as everyone is different, so it's upto the individual if they choose to have an abortion or not.
I think the next time a woman is raped you should be excuted. After all you've done something wrong somehwere in your life,,, in contrast to the unbornchild....

The chance of getting pregnant during rape is very small, as one's body goes into shock, so I don't think abortion is acceptable in the situation of rape either. Just because the circumstances surrounding a child's conception isn't anywhere near ideal, or pleasant, doesn't mean it's any less entitled to live the life God has given it.

Would you wish that child not be born?

Just wondering.

You never know what will happen in life. Who, besides God, can say that a child born perfectly healthy won't one day be hit by a car, fall off a high structure in a playground, contract a serious disease, be injured in a place like Disneyland etc and be left brain dead, a paraplegic etc? Does this mean that child is no longer entitled to life, and love? God knows us from the womb, and we are ALL created in His image regardless of whether or not we meet the world's standard of ideal.

So yes, I would definitely wish that child born. It has a purpose and something to teach like anyone of us, and I grieve for those whose chances to fulfill those things are taken from them. What is the world missing out on?

AND! There are medical procedures available for rape victims to avoid pregnancy altogether, IF they seek immediate medical attention.

Either you're pro life or you aren't. And elective abortion hasn't always been legal, only for about 31 years. That means if the sepreme court hadn't ruled in the first place (government control), elective abortion wouldn't even be a (legal) choice. Furthermore, there is medical proof that having an abortion won't save anyone's life. I agree with you that the government should never control this issue; they should have never gotten involved and made it legal on a national level.

Since having children I feel so sad about all those poor babies that never get to be born. In this debate people focus on the extreme cases such as rape, etc but the fact is that the majority of babies are aborted because they do not fit into the lifestyle or timing of the woman who is having the abortion. I think if you decide to have sex you are deciding to take the responsiblity of having a baby. It is not the babies fault if someone is irresponsible, why should they have to pay. There are many people wanting to adopt. This is the couragous thing to do, to give up the baby for adoption if you cannot take good care of it. Just don't kill the poor thing.

'Read this, and then tell me, what would Jesus do?'

Abortion Methods
1. Suction Aspiration: This is the procedure most often used in the first trimester of pregnancy (the first three months). The abortionist inserts a suction tube (similar to a vacuum hose with an extremely sharp end) into the mother's womb. The suction and cutting edge dismember the baby while the hose sucks the body parts into a collection bottle.

2. Dilation and Curettage (D & C):
In this procedure, the abortionist uses a loop shaped knife to cut the baby into pieces and scrape the uterine wall. The baby's body parts are then removed and checked to make sure that no pieces were left in the mother's womb.

3. Dilation and Evacuation (D & E): This form of abortion is used to kill babies in the second trimester (24+ weeks). The abortionist uses a forceps to grab parts of the baby (arms and legs) and then tears the baby apart. The baby's head must be crushed in order to remove it because the skull bone has hardened by this stage in the baby's growth.

4. Dilation and Extraction (also known as D & X or Partial-Birth Abortion):
Used to kill babies well into the third trimester (as late as 32 weeks old), the abortionist reaches into the mother's womb, grabs the baby's feet with a forceps and pulls the baby out of the mother, except for the head. The abortionist then jams a pair of scissors into the back of the baby's head and spreads the scissors apart to make a hole in the baby's skull. The abortionist removes the scissors and sticks a suction tube into the skull to suck the baby's brain out. The forceps are then used to crush the baby's head and the abortionist pulls the baby's body out the rest of the way.

5. Salt Poisoning:
This technique is used in the second and third trimester. The abortionist sticks a long needle into the mother's womb. The needle contains salt which is then injected into the amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. The baby breathes in, swallows the salt and dies from salt poisoning, dehydration, brain hemorrhage and convulsions. Taking nearly an hour to die, the baby's skin is completely burned, turns red and deteriorates. The baby is in pain the entire time. The mother goes into labor 24 - 48 hours later and delivers a dead baby.

6. Prostaglandins: Used during the second and third trimester, prostaglandin abortions involve the injection of naturally produced hormones into the amniotic sac, causing violent premature labor. During these convulsions the baby is often crushed to death or is born too early to have any chance of surviving.

7. Hysterotomy:
Performed in the third trimester, this is basically an abortive Cesarean section (C-section). The abortionist makes in an incision in the mother's abdomen and removes the baby. The baby is then either placed to the side to die or is killed by the abortionist or nurse.

8. Chemical abortion:

a. RU-486: RU-486 blocks the hormone that helps develop the lining of the uterus during pregnancy (progesterone). This lining is the source of nutrition and protection for the developing baby. The tiny boy or girl is starved to death and then a second drug, misoprostol, causes contractions so that the dead baby is expelled from the womb.

b. Methotrexate: Highly toxic, this chemical directly attacks and breaks down the baby's fast-growing cells. It also attacks the life-support systems the baby needs to survive. When the systems fail, the baby dies. Misoprostol is then used to cause contractions and push the dead baby out of the womb.

c. Abortifacient birth control (the Pill, Depo-Provera, Norplant, the IUD, Emergency Contraception). These abortion-causing chemicals and devices can act to kill preborn children in the earliest days of life. It is well known that abortifacient methods of birth control may act to inhibit ovulation and prevent conception. However, most women don't know they also act to alter the lining of the womb so that the implantation of a newly conceived child cannot occur. If the child cannot implant in the lining of the womb to receive nourishment, he or she dies.

That's why you're a democrat. But then you might as well say that it's unethical to enforce an anti-murder law. Outlaw any prosecution of a suspected murder; it might make them unstable. Instead, just make killing legal, then they can get counselling.

I'm sorry, but the argument that it's a right to kill doesn't hold up. I am pro-choice; the woman has a choice whether or not to have intercourse. When the girl makes the choice, then she must accept responsibility for her actions. Just killing the problem might make it go away, but it should not be that something wrong is made legal.

Good post, Nicole.

Abortion is one of the most powerful tools the devil has. It destroys more than just the life of the child murdered. It destroys the mother, and cheapens the value of life in society.

I will say this boldy that if you are Christian and support abortion, you need to re-evaluate where you stand for Christ!

Abortion is disgusting. We need to have another serious of Nuremburg trials, this time for the abortion "doctors." Every one of them should hang for their crimes.
Death for death? Doesn't sound very constructive.
