Uh huh. Still don't think people are walking thousands of miles for "perks". Could it be, and I'm just spitballing here, could it be their home states are in turmoil and they are coming here for the American dream? To live a better life for them ans their families?
Sure, I don’t doubt that at all.
But that makes them economic migrants, not refugees

Well, it is all over the news, it the number one concern right now so. Even dems are seeing it as problem.
I'm aware that a lot of people are concerned about the current situation. But that neither demonstrates that Biden invited illegal immigrants in nor that Trump's policies fixed anything.

As I've already pointed out several times now, the Migrant Protection Protocols did not reduce the number of illegal immigrants coming into the country compared to previous years, so the effectiveness must be questioned. Enough other things changed between when they were enacted to when they were removed (then re-enacted, then removed again) that the increase in immigration in recent years can't automatically be attributed to the removal of the MPPs. Correlation does not equal causation.

Why after 3 years of denying there was a problem and having Mayorkas telling us the border is secure, does Biden now think that there is a crisis and he needs legislation to give him the ability to do anything about it?

Because he has been convinced that there is a problem.

Yes. It’s a problem because it’s an election year and polls show it’s a top issue among likely voters

Correct. It's the violence and corruption in their native countries that make them refugees.
Then we should find a way to build a bigger country because that makes a whole lot of people eligible

From what I read and hear from Republican Senators, this is one of the "most conservative" pieces of legislation in recent years. Biden is supporting it, taking a political risk with the left. We'll see if Republicans stand up to Trump this time around and support a bill that been in negotiation for months....

As I’ve posted several times it allows an average 4,999 entries a day, or 8,499 in a single day before any action can be taken. That’s almost 2 million a year. I don’t see that as a most conservative piece of legislation

It's a serious problem for border enforcement on both sides of the fence. Large stretches of Mexican territory are under the control of drug lords (funded by our need for illegal drugs and armed with weapons purchased in the US) where the state exercises neither effective government nor policing. And, because they control the territory, they can set up a nice side hustle trucking loads of asylum seekers to the border--for a steep price.

Keep letting fentanyl come in and eventually the US won’t “need” illegal drugs anymore. All the drug users will be dead.

4,999 a day is better than 20,000. And legally, I don't think the U.S. bring it down to zero.

it is too many and to much power to Biden. It puts it all in the hands of Biden. He is gaining alot in this. But, until we know what is in it none of us should be accepting it. Let it be debated.

From my understanding, the law would actually mandate the suspension of the asylum process above 5000 a day and allow for discretional use of that authority at a lesser amount.

What part of the law are you speaking of?
