Godliness with contentment is great gain
We are told in the bible that if we have clothing and food we, can be content. Paul says in Philippians 4:11-13 while he was in prison waiting to be executed---I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength
Contentment is a choice that we make. When we don't feel like it eg: we may be depressed/angry/fearful/anxious (could be due to circumstances or our own sins or the attacks of the devil), we need to make a decision to be content. To praise and thank God for what we have and that we have Him to help us and that we are saved eternally. To choose to trust God's words and to practice it. And as in Philippians 4:8, --Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.
When we do this, we do find relief. I find this to be true from my experiences when I practice the above and also its in line with the bible where the word says--Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you--James 4:7. When we choose to follow God's word, we are actually submitting to God and we will find God helping us.
