Chava,

I think you have missed the point of my post entirely. None of this is aimed at you or any of the Jewish community. After all, I have never known you to teach or debate anything as 'Messianic'.

My question has to do with those that do teach and present their views as representative of the majority membership here, as 'Messianic' and claim the right to do so, even though they do not display the Messianic icon or agree with the SoP.

I have never known you to purposely violate the rules or SoP, so I don't know how you got the impression that I was addressing you or the Jewish community as a whole. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my OP.

Your input is usually very well considered and on point, even if I don't always agree with your conclusion. In this case however, I think you have gotten the wrong idea. I'm sorry. I should have been more clear.
Thank you for clearing that up. I know several of us were concerned that the Normative Jewish posters here were the ones being targeted. Yes, sad to say, it would have saved us a few pages of posts if you had been clearer as to who you were talking about from the get go.
So because crazy visitors and people that have icons of convenience are less polite than former members when they break the rules, it's OK for the polite ones to break the rules, but not the rude ones?
Not sure what you're getting at.
I just don't know what you want us all to do. Those who are the rule breakers are not going to see that they are the problem. We don't want to spend our time reporting each other when a rule is broken. Its like speeders on the freeway. We can't keep calling the police every time someone flies by.
This is something you need to take up with the admin. And because most don't know a thing about MJ, they haven't a clue as to what we need.
So what do you want?

To Visionary,

any lurker could have reported it and it had nothing to do with any MJ. I think maybe we need to have a ruling that it has to be a MJ reporting a post in the MJ forum area in order for it to be considered offensive..etc
I agree with you.

You know, I have to agree with talmidim. I go to a much smaller but well moderated site with any serious questions now, because anything posted here will be lost in a blizzard of "cross bearers" anxious to tell us where we are wrong, or people with the appropriate icon but inappropriate agendas.

I guess in the end it comes down to whether you want a loosely moderated forum with a lot of posters, or a tighter controlled forum. Sad people can't follow the rules, but it's the price of doing business, I suppose.

Gotta run- later.

Many thanks for covering that -

although it has been encouraged to simply report (as I have before ) when someone is denouncing Jewish people unnecessarily or speaking against Torah as being a beautiful thing.

Well Thanks, I think I just might start hitting the report button myself, when it comes to speaking against Israel.

I have heard many in real life speak against Jews that way and they always have to contend with me. It always amazes me just how many people are anti semitic.

Thankfully, just as many Messianic Jews/Messianic Gentiles in Israel have noted when asking for prayer for the believers in Israel while also noting issues within their government/land that are unbiblical, you don't have to support all things done in the name of Israel (the Israeli State today) in order to be supportative of it in many ways. ...as the Lord has a plan for the Jewish people there and all others calling on His name:)

Ah yes, here we have yet another iteration of the semi-annual ritual of unresolved power issues and obvious grasp for dominance by saturation bombing at Beit Kazab.

Hey, are you the guy who used to call himself aniello here in the past? Notice you are Sioux and Jew same as his name tag item.

Hey, are you the guy who used to call himself aniello here in the past? Notice you are Sioux and Jew same as his name tag item.

That would be my older brother Aniello. I came down here to Albuquerque to bolster him up as he went through several surgeries and also to handle family business interests while he was incapacitated. He wanted me to look in on this little paradise occasionally as he knows I loathe it, we like to put each other to the dare. I had been away from the mess a year and a half about and also I live much of the year at Pine Ridge and other locations in the northern tier, NA-wise. I still work as a Structural P.E. and collaborate with other engineers on new text materials.

He's doing well enough now and I will be returning to Pine Ridge tonight, and certainly not wasting more time in this forum. I would gather from talking with him that he will probably greatly limit any time spent here. For him this place gives him an opportunity to pick up things that suit his rather wry sense of humor. He is still active in his law firm and Weds. coming he will be 78, G-d willing.

Words of wisdom, Dodari. My best to Aniello. He is in our prayers.

Yeah Ani, Phillip the anti-semite. Bite me. Time to leave this manure factory.

You don't give a holocaust denier a stage to speak, but if you did give him a place to speak, it shouldn't be the very place and people he speaks against.

Which is fine. I wanted to make sure people who were being talked about in the other thread had a place to respond since they were blocked by the "MJ only" tag.

Yeah Chava. All that naming of names that went on in that MJ thread. Only I didn't name any names. I was asking about a situation with the rules. Nice mischaracterization though.

Nay, T., my comment was not a reference to you at all. Sort of leaves a single choice, que no, es facil.

Anyway, Aniello is doing well, eating soft food, walking on his new hip work running the nurses crazy, no internal bleedig, watching CNN/Fox screaming that he could do it better and reminding me he is older and smarter than me. I'm glad he a gun does not have yet.

I'm escaping back to Pine Ridge on the Foundation's plane in about an hour and a half. Having been here I'll need cleansing so Friday a Sachem and I will visit a small water fall at Pa'a Sapa, after mikvaeh he will smudge me with 'the smoke' and after that in the evening I think it would be nice to lift a little blonde hair, harpoon a Cadillac and steal, marinate(using Poggio La Strega imported wine) and eat the district attorney's poodle.

Understand, however that thread was closed- much like the last thread I commented on where I stepped on the toes of a problem child and called out a couple of the favored sons, I'm guessing. That one was quickly closed, but if I was reported I havn't heard. No matter, the fact is that lately there has been a surge in posters coming here to set us right. I came here for information, not to argue with mainstreamists.

And before someone calls me "anti-homogenetic" remember that I worship at an AoG church every Sunday. But I don't organize any Messianics to go in with me and tell them how to worship! (Or when :p). It'd be nice if we could be just one big happy family, but we ain't (yet). I can live with this fact, but I'm not very tolerant of folks who think they can defecate in my sanctuary.

The Jewish posters here have said that the problem is "Messianic vs. Messianic"- the inference being it isn't "Jewish vs. Messianic". You're half right; I don't think anyone has a problem with the Jewish posters here, who on the whole show more restraint than expected. However the problem I see is a lot of people with the wrong icons or those who get the right icon for dishonest reasons on here teaching, arguing and sometimes just stirring the pot. The net result is that coming here for information is as bad as going on the open net and trying to sort through the refuse piles for salvageable information.

Personally, I have my doubts that older, more knowledgeable posters leave primarily because some here try to keep our house clean from time to time. My guess is most leave because of a lack of housecleaning. No matter, it's not "my" forum, so there's other options. My guess is that if I go elsewhere for a while they'll all get tired, or think they've "won" something, or like all kids just get bored and move on. Then maybe the good info will flow again for a while.

That thread did not deserve an MJ only tag IMHO. It's almost like saying- we want to talk about people so they can see we are talking about them- but we don't want them to talk back. Very High School gossip mimic. If it was a doctrinal thread, sure, use the silly tag, but if it's essentially about forum business, it should have been a forum thread. Would have saved the opening of this thread.

I'm sorry you have had to endure that. I'm appalled actually.

A lot of hostility being thrown at a few people on this thread. Cloaked ad-homs, hints of personal attacks but no names mentioned to avoid report, mud slinging but from behind icons, nicks and the false usage of the Word as a weapon to bring people into disprepute, not to mention bringing yet again unrest to the forum. Put it this way- people behaving that way in a congregation would be asked to leave. I wonder if some of them are no strangers to that in the outside world.

For the record, I'm on the side of you and others here who have for years shown patience, sincerity, generousity and fellowship. This is the real spirit of the forum, not the angry people who just can't handle others who don't meet up to their self-made expectations, and call the place manure etc. We just don't need it.

What pleases me most is to see level heads prevailing yet again. Well done.

...and you think the others here are the ones with a problem with avodah zara!

This is plain crude, man! So unecessary and careless. You have really no right to use that language on a forum, esp. with ladies present. I think your attendence of an AoG church shows the rest of us that you're more than prepared to tolerate others and expect them to tolerate you in the outside world. Try that tolerance here.

However the problem I see is a lot of people with the wrong icons or those who get the right icon for dishonest reasons on here teaching, arguing and sometimes just stirring the pot.

As I said before, the scroll icon really doesn't mean much. People here with scroll icons attend Christian churches and people here with cross icons are real Messianic Jews.

What bugs me a lot is that on occassion people with scroll icons (usually church goers and Gentiles to boot) tend to paint themselves up as super frum and then judge the rest of the forum on Torah observance. The reality is that this shows an amazing lack of familiarity with how Jewish life really is. It's almost a dead giveaway that someone is new to it.

Well, you haven't been here that long. You'll see in time that the sky is not going to fall everytime someone is "wrong on the internet" and that losing sleep arguing with them is truly a wasted life. Try to enjoy your time here, that's the key to sanity.

I think any review of my posts will show that I've been nothing but honest from the first about my level of experience and the fact I am still looking at where exactly I fit in as a Messianic believer. So if that is aimed at me, you need to rethink things a bit.

I've been around forums before, and pretty much said the same thing about this situation.

Any way, it's midnight; and while I won't loose any sleep over petty squabbles on the net, I am loosing sleep talking about it. Later ...
