Brinny, everyone dies because of sin. We all have been handed over to death by God.

Any questions? Please see the Boss when you get there.

Define 'out to get'

Out to "get" meaning to do whatever it took to cause Job to curse God and die.

Was Satan out to "get" Job or was God?

Uh, yeah. And good to see you kid! How ya been?

You might have some personal familiarity with this topic matter I presume?

Scars never go away do they? It always hurts.

Hey Squint (and Brinny too) I think we all do some extent. I hope you are well, Im alright thanks for asking. I have been off fighting a giant in my life (going on two year with it) and I'm about to bring this to a halt and cut my losses when the opportunity presents itself, this kind of stuff (feeling hemmed in) is never fun.

And I definately didnt count this one for joy. I actually love this topic but I am out of practice, I havent been in the word for so long because my head has been taken up with this other (utterly relentless) crap.

Feels good to hear the word, like a breath of fresh air.

Good to see you Squint

Was Satan out to "get" Job or was God?

Both applied severe evil pressure on Job, undoubtedly.

God could certainly have not directed Satan to do so or could have easily stopped any of that from happening. So that is kind of the point of observation of fact.

God can stop all evil in the next instant IF He wanted to, so do the math.

Both Satan and God were both co-conspirators to do whatever it took to cause Job to curse God and die?

Thank you kindly.

Job certainly wasn't going to avoid dying if that's what you are asking.

And yes, it is quite horrific when GOD, yes GOD, brings evil.

That is probably as good of a basis as any for the formation of genuine Godly FEAR.

Repeated once more that God can create and use anything inclusive of any power (power of evil, power of death)

...and not be that thing used or created.

To believe that God is evil by creating and/or using evil, (a power or a thing) is a form of pantheism.

Who spoke with God in the beginning of the book of Job, accusing Job of loving God only because God blessed Job?

Thank you kindly.

If a liar said "I believe" would you believe that a liar believes? Do you believe anything a liar says? I certainly don't. And that, from experience.

Do you really think God believes anything a liar says?

The entire exercise with Job was a Divine Action of God done in strict accordance with only Gods Counsel. Satan has no sway whatsoever.

Satan is just a hand puppet of God in any case of sights, often expressed as coming from the LEFT hand side or the EAST no less.

The power of evil and Satan exists because God WANTS it to be so.

I had avoided the book of Job for the longest time. Since delving into it, it has been an on-going Bible study for me.....especially how joy is associated with the "fear of the Lord" and man's definition of this "fear" vs God's definition, and what this verse means:

"the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love." ~Psalm 147:11

and this one (amongst others)

"The fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain." ~Proverbs 14:27

Thank you kindly.

I am still figuring out Job. The only thing I can discern from it is that God's wisdom is way above my own and when bad things happen it may be impossible to understand but obviously for the best. Romans 8:28 clarifies that.

It is almost like a incomplete theological theory. A finite mind of an ancient hebrew trying to grasp a infinite wisdom of an omnipotent God.

There is actually quite a deeper principle involved with these matters. It is a deeply philosophical question that God poses to us all and answers in Christ.

That a man/woman who loses everything does in fact GAIN all things.

It's a very hard thing to come into contact with, but it is a scriptural reality.
