  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Then you calculate it and tell me the year.

Or are you afraid you'll err as well?

Luke didn't have any 21st century technology at his disposal ... you do.

So it should be a piece of cake.
Why bother? It was well before Jesus's time. No need to invent "prophetic years".

So you won't come across as someone just sitting on the sideline taking potshots at Luke.

You'll actually show his error.

Anyone can say YOU'RE WRONG.

Showing why you're wrong is another matter.

Then don't.

Correct Luke's calculations with 21st century technology.

Oh, wait! That would be an invention, wouldn't it?

Looks like you painted yourself into a corner.

I have been over his error before. Technically that belongs in the apologetics part of this forum at any rate. I don't need "21st century technology" all I need is history. In a nutshell the proposed census did not take place until 6 AD. Second the demand that people return to their ancestral home "to be taxed" makes no sense. In a census one is taxed where one works and lives.

There were two failures of Luke in that part of the story alone.

Hey, chief ... are you listening here?

Do you even know what I'm asking?

Here, let me simplify it for you ... but you're still going to have to do some work on your own ... okay?

You supply the 21st century technology -- and together, let's you and I work together on this, and I'll see if I can help you pwn Luke.

I don't think we can ... but let's try ... okay?

After all, you look ... well ... childish, sitting on the sidelines making remarks in which you have no idea what you're saying.

Anyway ... let's get started.

Go to Dan... nevermid ... I'll do it for you:

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Start with 14 March 445 BC* and go from there with your 21st century abacus.

* I'm sorry ... I can't dumb down "BC" for you educated types. I don't know the correct scientific terminology. I think it's "BCE" or something like that, but I'm not sure.

Lol... this really triggers you.

Either Quirinnius, or Herrod. Close enough, right. ;)

Try Cyrenius.

Luke 2:2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

I listened you didn't. A lot of your "prophesy" is based upon a bad translation. Read more here:

You mean roughly in the year 6 CE.

ETA: Herod died in roughly the year 4 BCE. That is a ten year time span.
Whatever.

Daniel focused on the Messiah, not someone else.

Actually he didn't. Read the article.
Read this article.
This is the only occasion that Jesus presented Himself as King. It occurred on April 6, 32 A.D.

The Precision of Prophecy

When we examine the period between March 14, 445 B.C. and April 6, 32 A.D., and correct for leap years, we discover that it is 173,880 days exactly, to the very day!
