Now you know how the rest of us felt before this change.

Thanks.

do you even realize that the people who gave themselves to CF are literally crying right now? Being on staff isn't just a title! It's being part of a family! You're breaking up families and friendships! It goes deeper than the red "M" next to my name!

What was so wrong with having an area where everyone could socialize, and an area where just Christians could go for support, where teenagers could go for some sound Biblical advice?

Church is supposed to be a refuge for the believer, a place where we learn about Christ and grow. It is a place where I feel comfortable and safe, knowing there are certain standards that will be upheld by leaders who, for the most part, are striving to please our Lord and to do His will. A place where unbelievers are welcome to come to learn about God, faith, and salvation.

There's a difference between non-believers being able to walk into church, and them being able to lead. Does it make sense to let a Christian lead an atheist or a Muslim group?

What I loved most about Christian Forums was that everyone was welcome, but there was also a sanctuary for the believer. No other site could boast this.

It's true, Erwin, this is your site, to do with as you will.

However, once these changes are made, to me, there will be nothing that sets this apart from other Christian communities on the web. It will no longer be a safe haven. I fear that simple topics now have the potential to become a Christian-vs.-non-Christian debate.

Jesus' disciples weren't voted in.

I just hope someone with the knowledge and ability will step up and create another sanctuary.

I don't like this idea of voting on people to join staff... there are some pretty sick puppies on this forum, whose offenses are only known in private staff fora, and if they managed to finagle enough votes to get on staff, they could do so much damage. You would make those victims choose between being quietly stalked or openly humiliated.

There will be no secret room for them to conspire in, we will be able to see what they are doing. If people think there is alot of complaining about staff now, wait til the rank and file members have concrete proof of abuses.

I couldn't put it any better.
You and me will not be on staff because we are not popular with members? Because you spend hours in report forums, tracking those who fight the peace for the peace of others?

I would go on all day.
If you are Christian, would you run your church along the changes being stipulated here? I think not.

Pray Christians with a sincere heart, just keep praying. At least, we can't go wrong with that

why couldn't you be part of that family while in the "general population" I think this is what Erwin wants to get away from, the idea that being on staff makes you special or better than the rest of us. I never realized how prevelent that idea was until Erwin made this announcement.

So am I!

Now to the messy business of making sure it hurts the fewest possible.

It is a constant issue.
Amen but it must be done.

 As unpleasant as all this is, it's probably actually really healthy. Plus, it's sort of a lot of stored up frustration coming out - which is definitely healthy.

No-one should make any rash decisions. It would behoove us to throw everything in the pot, and when it's come off the boil, see what we're left with :)

It will be nicer than the way it's looking now :)

That makes sense to me too.... it gets yucky, then it calms down..... I can soooooooo picture this in a church..... wait, I've experienced this in a church, when there is a big change. Its not fun, and its not easy, but life does go on at the end and God is still glorified.

do you even realize that the people who gave themselves to CF are literally crying right now? Being on staff isn't just a title! It's being part of a family! You're breaking up families and friendships! It goes deeper than the red "M" next to my name!

Saucy, no one has un-elected you here. You are still a moderator. You belong here.... and you are still apart of your same friendships/family...

I fear that simple topics now have the potential to become a Christian-vs.-non-Christian debate.

Consider that for most subjects, such debates would be moved as off-topic. At first this might happen, but as everyone learned to stick to the subject at hand, derails would lessen.

Yep - He loves us but never says it is okay to sin.

yes, and he also said to forgive our fellow brother seventy-seven times

Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
22 Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Wonder if Peter was talking about a fellow Christian brother.. believe the word Christian was never mentioned. ;)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9

So telling somebody that has confessed Jesus as Lord that they are not saved, is not my job.

That's all I want to say on this, because His word says it all.

The entire site is the 'family'. Not good enough? Need your own separate 'family' within a 'family'? That sounds elitist and cliquish. I think that's part of the cultural change Erwin has in mind.....the elimination of elitist sub-cultures and cliques.

And I have no problem with that Grace.

However, He never condoned sin. Ever. If you think he condoned sin - show me with scripture.

And when it was time, the word Christian was used. It should mean something - not just any ole thing one creates.

I have a huge problem seeing how this will change the situation for the better, but I will try to keep an open mind by observation of the process, however threatening I find it to be now. But from my standpoint it couldn't be any worse.
