I see. I guess I am just naive then. I had no idea that this was going on and to me it adds credibility to Erwin's decision to open the forum. I mean, if our mods are doing this kind of thing, then, what else are they capable of? The whole decision is starting to make alot of sense now.

I agree but I have been aware of some of the vast corruption engaged in by a few staff members for a very long time. The problem is that we weren't allowed to talk about it without simply being subjected to more staff action against us and our post which exposed the actions being deleted.

It seems to me that the site is not what is broken, but those who were ruling it. So far, I have heard that moderators use language that no Christian should utter and that other moderators had to resign because they could not resist viewing soft deleted porn. There is a problem here at CF, but it is not the membership and it is not the rules themselves, and it is not the decision to change the rules. The problem is with the corruption within the administration and staff.

It should be remembered, however, that many of the rules were drafted by some of the less ethical members of staff and then used to hide their unethical actions and behaviors. The rules need to go and be replaced with something which isn't designed to censor or control thought.

Thank the Good Lord for guiding me away from a staff position. I cannot even imagine how much it would have hurt me and scarred me.

It scarred a great many. I know of two former moderators who deconverted before leaving CF. I know of another who transferred to another team because of the corruption on the team the were originally accepted into. I know still another who eventually confessed that the only reason they remained on staff was to try to offer a voice of reason as many others on their "team" would gather to attack a particular member or post. There were multiple indications that when certain people were reported, (assuming they really were), staff would scrutinize every word in their post and seek any single dictionary definition which might allow them to justify claiming it was a flame. I've seen upper staff members delete entire threads without cause and then lie in claiming they didn't, then claim they did because they were short-staffed -- on a 4-page thread. I've seen PMs issued by upper end staff to other staff which, if placed in a post, would have been deleted and a warning issued for flaming. But because they were who they were, nothing happened to them.

The violations and corruption go on and on and Erwin has recognized the only way to prevent this in the future -- limited terms, elections and transparency throughout the site.

I feel like in my eyes, the old CF made me turn away from Christianity and go pseudo-agnostic for a while. It wasn't just CF, it was basically any sort of Christians that told me I wasn't good enough to be a Christian...

This was my experience, as well.

So this new CF to me could bring more people to Christ than turn away... it just won't bring about the type of Christian some people WANT.

I wonder if Christ would want them?

I think that non-Christians shouldn't be allowed to be mods in SOME forums that are suited more to the Christian minds. Debate, fine. Recreation, fine. But forums like Prayer Support should be left to Christian mods, at least IMO.

I could go along with this. But I think it would be nice if there was an interfaith prayer subforum. Some of the people who've been most kind to me when I've posted requests for prayers have been nonChristian, and I don't shun their help.

I have an idea, instead of worrying about faith icons, we could all just have 1 religion. CF already forces us to speak in 1 language, and use 1 currency. Why not follow the trend.
