I never said that they were in Erwin's original post. I just know that they're going away.

I suppose we can continue to debate or you can watch and see what happens.

I find the decision stupid and somewhat sad as I like my faith icon.
You don't have a faith icon, or at least it's not showing.

Just pointing out the obvious. Call me Magoo.

I know...I edited my earlier post to reflect that. I found that keeping it hidden made me a better moderator.

I'm Catholic.

ETA: and yes, I know that it is currently hidden - hiding it made me a better moderator, I think. I just know that lots of folks like their icons as well.
Then Show it! if they go away, its because you have put it away!

Perhaps it will change, perhaps we won't like it, but if we don't stop the bickering, and get back to the fellowship we have had, then we all loose!

Hmm.... That's an interesting point of view on your faith icon!

Yay. It's back. But I hope you don't stop moderating. You seem pretty cool.

Says you bear.

This is a message board, but many come here that are seeking or young in Christ and do not need the agendas of others polluting their precious hearts and minds.

Millstone bear, millstone.
How did all those prior generations of Christians survive without the internet? It must have been brutal!

I would agree that balance is never perfect -- nothing in the universe is. But nature does still strive for a balance and left alone, will show a bias for balance rather than imbalance. So any assertion that God, (if there is a God), isn't favorable to a balance is unevidenced and poorly supported. The evidence demonstrates a preference for balance.
You are basically saying the same as I did except for one crucial point. I do believe that there is perfection in the universe... but you already knew that I would say that, didn't you?
I see no reason that you won't still have fellowship and everything else you've had here; it just won't be over-shadowed by dictatorial power-mongers. (Is that too blunt?)
I have only been here a very short time, but overall I think the climate is going to be just as oppressive by the formerly oppressed and I will probably be on the wrong side to appreciate that in the way you will.
Because they have chosen to leave. They're not being pushed out. Most who are leaving seem to be doing so as a protest for having their power and control reduced to that equal to everyone else. They seem to sense that they're more entitled to opinions, beliefs and the things they want on this board, more than are other people.
I know they have chosen to leave and it would be because they feel pushed out. Haven't you ever just felt unwelcomed?

But, let's look at that greener grass on the other side of the fence. Now they will not have that power and those who opposed them probably will. You are on that side so you naturally are happier.
You're talking about the majority getting what they choose rather than being dictated to by the minority. Where would you get the idea that the minority should dictate to the majority?
No, by all means, let the mob rule! That is the only way people are going to see how they themselves can become what they hated once they have the power.

I think it is more accurate to say that nature constantly seeks balance, but rarely attains it. If attained, it is not maintained but for a brief time.

Not everyone comes to these forums for the purpose of debating. I debate on other boards. I came here for fellowship and restoration.

The power of pushing people out is in the wording of the new policy--why else would some people be posting farewells due to the policy change?--and those who are empowered by it will be the oppressors.
That people are leaving is NOT proof that they were sent away, either intentionally or unintentionally. More to the point your comments about history are awfullt abstract. What Erwin has done has been to take away a mechanism for ruling over people, one which has demonstrably been used to hurt them. Against this you argue only that such abuse is inevitable, and that in the absence of oppression over the liberals the liberals will oppress the conservatives. You see only a choice of who will and whill not be abused.

1) No matter how you slice it, your advocating abuse.
2) This world in which no-one shows integrity and no system leads to fairness is hardly in keeping with any moral values whatsoever, and I hardly think it consistent with Christian teachings.

Your own failure to envision the possibility of fair treatment makes a poor argument for ANY standard of behavior.

Honestly, if merely taking a restraint off the liberals and non-Christians is enough to make us oppressors, then you envision only a world wherein the only choice is over who will be hurt and under what terms will they be hurt. And if you cannot imagine a world in which you will be treated well short of a clear advantage over those you disagree with, then this bodes poorly for your own sense of how to treat the rest of us.

Yopur wrong. They are crying and no compassion is being given but to put them down from the "winning" side. Would you still be saying that without the cushy new job?

What cushy new job? Are their announcements o new jobs being created or filled?

Where are people getting this information? I saw the same thing mentioned with regards to Herev.
