Its about free will. Lets say your wife works as a secretary for one of the CEO of General Motors. She says she loves you, but you are worried as her boss is a good looking guy. So what do you do? trust her? or make her quit her job?

The scenario was hypothetical it does not need to involve the husband sleeping with the boss.

If I knew my wife was prone to sleep with other men, and pretty much knew for a fact that she would sleep with one particular man, and I got her a job working directly for that particular man?
