This is in a Christian-only area of the forum.

We who are Christians should agree that there is a spiritual realm, and in that realm are spirits loyal to our King Jesus and spirits on this earth who are in rebellion to Him and are our enemies.

We who are Christians should understand that there is prayer, that prayer is power in the spiritual realm, and that spiritual beings respond to prayer.

We who are Christians should realize that there are people--extremely religious people--who get on their knees five times a day and pray earnestly for the will and power to do incredible evil, evil that is beyond the ability of men alone to sustain on their own. And there are spiritual beings answering their prayers.

Christians should...but Christians aren't yet because we have not realized that spiritual powers--enabled by evil prayer--are at work, and we're still hoping for a material cavalry to come to the rescue.

No, in fact, Christians have not realized that principalities are in motion and have not met the threat of thousands of evil prayers head-to-head with equally earnest prayer of our own.
Sort of reminds me of the saying:

"I prayed to God to deliver me from my enemies, and I suddenly had no friends."

We have prayed for NYC, Paris, Munich. . . All we have done is pray. Now is a time for action. The world needs to come together to end Muslim terror.

If anything the rapid destabilisation of Middle Eastern countries by coalition forces has caused, or at least affected the extent of, some of the issues we're facing today.

Creating power vacuums in areas of tribal warfare where power struggles are day-to-day life for many, radical Islam has been able to thrive.

A lot of innocent people have died at our hands and their families don't truly understand why. It isn't surprising, then, that when Taliban or any other group come knocking on doors for young men to fight against the people, ideologies or cultures that caused them grief under a skewed view of righteousness that they jump at the opportunity.

I'd argue that you can't kill an ideology, anyway and shy of millions of troops deployed across multiple countries going town to town, village to village, engaging the enemy and holding ground gained, we'd never make a real difference. Even after that, we'd have to come home at some point.
Conventional warfare is woefully ineffective against this type of enemy and there's no effective way to fight them under the expectation of meaningful progress.

So while I don't think we should roll over, prayer is our most powerful tool. Like someone else stated, the Spirit was able to bring some of these folks to Christ. Paul was brought to Christ on his way to persecute Christians and beyond that he was made an Apostle. All things are possible with God.

The main perp was known to authorities. From the Daily Mail link I provided :

The 19-year-old 'ISIS soldier' was being monitored with an electronic ankle tag after he was arrested for twice attempting to flee France to join the terror group in Syria.

Despite having been released early from prison, Kermiche's bail conditions allowed him to roam unsupervised between 8.30am and 12.30pm, leaving him free to murder the priest in the attack carried out between 9am and 11am.

Kermiche and his accomplice - also known to French police - forced 84-year-old Father Jacques Hamel to kneel before filming themselves butchering him and performing a 'sermon in Arabic' at the altar of the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, according to witnesses.

A prayer for our earth
All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light.

We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle for justice, love and peace.

Francis - Laudate Si - 2015

Marion Maréchal Le Pen, the 26-year-old niece of France’s Front National leader Marine Le Pen has urged her fellow countrymen to join the military in a series of tweets following the beheading of a priest in Normandy this morning.
Reacting to the incident, Ms. Le Pen took to her Twitter account to double down on her message from just a few days before, and just after the attacks in Nice.

She said on Sunday: “Either we kill Islamism or it will kill us again and again. You are with us and against Islamism, or you are against us and for Islamism… Those who choose the status quo become complicit with our enemies.”

On the side I note in Australia we have a Press release which I have copied below. I have long felt that the leadership of the Islamic Faith is Australia has been too quiet on these issues. We may well want to see more, however I for one am glad for something on the occasion.

ANIC AND THE GRAND MUFTI OF AUSTRALIA DENOUNCE ISIS KILLING OF FRENCH PRIEST

The Australian National Imams Council and The Grand Mufti of Australia were extremely shocked to hear of the brutal slaying yesterday of French Catholic Priest, Father Jacques Hamel in a church in Normandy.

We would like to convey our deepest condolences to Father Hamel's family and friends.

It is alleged that the two gunmen responsible for the killing claimed to represent ISIS. We denounce in the strongest possible terms the violent murder of Father Hamel. The Grand Mufti of Australia. Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed said: ISIS is an evil organisation that has hijacked the religion of Islam for its own brutal and nihilistic goals. The betrayal of the Islamic faith and violation of its core principles arc enough to refute ISIS's false and absurd claims.

The sanctity of all human life, and especially that of people of religion, religious leaders of all faiths and their places of worship, are of paramount importance in Islam.

Sheikh Shady Alsuleiman, President of ANIC added: We should not allow the brutality of ISIS to cause us to turn against each other nor create disunity. This is exactly what they aim to achieve, but we must stand firm in support of our united opposition to their violence. Our shared humanity, civility and cohesiveness must be safeguarded.

We call for calm and restraint in the face of this tragic incident.

Now this is shocking. What's the source? Can you provide a link?

Prayer is the only thing that most of us can do in response to such a senseless killing. And, as others have said on here, prayer does work.

And remember that the majority of Muslims do not support ISIS. One of my dear friends is Muslim--her family are Kurds who fled Iraq when Saddam Hussein was in power. She has relatives who are in the Kurdish Peshmerga fighting ISIS.

Eleven Muslim counties kill homosexuals. That's a majority of Muslims, not a few.

You should have noticed that my exact statement was "the majority of Muslims do not support ISIS." I did not say anything about countries that kill homosexuals.

the murder of a priest, a grievous attack on a nun, and the desecration of an alter barely gets any notice at all
Let's not forget that the Pope has been urging Europe to take in more and more Muslim immigrants all along, while his Catechism claims that Muslims worship the same God as Christians. So Pope Francis should be held partly accountable for the atrocities in Europe for not being honest about Islam and Jihad.

Never underestimate the power of prayer We've already had a handful of ISIS members come to Christ. If the Holy Spirit can convict their hearts, surely more will follow.
Really? :) When did this occur? Do you have links you could share here please?

Yes quite silent the past few weeks.

What say you @Uncle Siggy ? You mentioned the silence weeks ago.

Well if they ignore the subject enough they can claim it isn't happening and demand a citation from you that it exists, and when you produce it then they proclaim it to be politically biased and it really isn't happening. Sound familiar???

Last week they were at the RNC and this week their at the DNC and both conventions had to build barriers to keep them outside where they belong, next week they'll be back here...

In a secular fallen world, attacks on Christians fall on deaf ears.
We are not of this world Brother. We must be here for one another and speak against evil when it captures our attentions so that the church may be aware and prepared in this war. Fear not. The Lord is with thee.
