(the problem with that is what exactly? )

With socialism and dictators? Venezuela, North Korea, Nazi Germany, Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler... The list goes on and on.

The real issue then is weeding out the lazy from the poor.

Which would end up costing us a great deal more than just helping those in need or having an uncharitable mindset of practically everyone being a scammer.

Jesus is the Perfect Gardener - THAT IS HIS JOB. Let HIM DO IT !
(let the assembly follow His Instructions Daily - then it is all handled properly)

:)

We have to be responsible as well. We can’t just say, “let Jesus handle it” and sit back doing nothing.

Having federal social safety nets that help the poor and disadvantaged is not establishing a dictatorship nor setting up a system in which a government owns all means of production, distribution, and exchange.

Sometimes doing just that *is* the responsible thing to do.

I doubt that. You’d alleviate some of the opioid epidemic in the process.

We’re keeping the safety net. We’re just trying to cut the slackers so the poor can be helped before we completely run out of funds.

Do you consider addicts to be "able-bodied?" Do you believe an addict only uses opioids because a food stamp program allows them more money to use for their addiction? Might there be other means (perhaps even violent ones) they would use to feed their addiction if they had less (or no) money?

It's obvious that it's not just the "slackers" who will be cut.

Then they would be in jail. I’m not going to pay someone to not commit crime.

100% of them aren’t going to turn to a life of crime. They will find jobs.

If they are mentally capable of holding a job. Are they? Are they not considered sick and in need of treatment?

Again, if they aren’t then they aren’t able bodied.

The United States government as an entity is not a Christian charity and therefore, nothing in the Bible applies to it.

The tenants of the Bible applies only to Christians, personally.

We should always give in charity from our personal excess - the mistake is forcing any government to do what is only an onus on your finances.. that - forcing others - will never count toward your account before God, it absolves you of nothing..

The atmospheric amounts of Money we eagerly spend like drunken sailors on the war machine renders your "we need to cut lazy people off food stamps or else we'll we run out of money" laughable.

The 2016 Military Budget for the us was Double that of the next largest, China and was enough money to buy every Homeless person in america a million dollar house.

But no... we need to keep buying Bombs at rate double our nearest Military competitor instead of feeding and housing every homeless person because... Socialism is Bad, Bombs are good.

US-Constitution

And its God who gives us our natural rights - according to the constitution - NOT the government.

The government was not created as a church entity, it was created to protect people and make certain that rights given by God were protected.

We have to do the church stuff ourselves - not make the government our God.
