Modern cosmology is based on the old religious idea that the universe created itself and support anything supernatural as long as it doesn't include God; black holes, pixie dust ... I meant dark matter , dark energy , inflation ,multiverse , 11 dimensions, etc.I'll your question now, so ancient Hebrews have a superior cosmological model then modern scientists?
How did the ancient Hebrews test their cosmological model and who peer reviewed it?

Scientist still assumes the universe revolves around his intellect.
Does everybody today believe in the Big Bang theory? No doubt later people would assume everyone today believed exactly alike and no one disagree with the Big Bang Theory. What make you so sure you know exactly what they knew back then when most of that knowledge is lost. I remember being taught in school that people in Columbus day thought the world was flat and found out that was a lie.The whole creation account is obviously modeled after the ancient Hebrew perception of the earth, the stars, the sun, the moon.
Obviously, this author believe the heavens had a ceiling called the firmament, and he obviously believed God created everything under this ceiling in six days.
In fact, he believed God created the plants and trees before God dressed up the upper boundaries of the firmament with the stars, moon, and sun.

You do know that people in Columbus day didn't think the earth was flat right? The reason it was easy to believe in that lie is it's easy for us to assume we are so smart and our ancestors were a butch of idiots. And how are the people in the days of Noah or Abraham any different than the people in Columbus' day?

I'm amazed what man was able to do without electricity, nuclear power, etc, as it proves that they were smart.God meets people where they are and in the ancient times they weren't ready for something as sophisticated as modern science. Heck, they were still using stone tools until the bronze age. They weren't thinking about producing electricity, nuclear power, rockets, modern flight, cell phones and televisions back then.

I agree the scriptures were not written to scientist of that day but common people and it was put in simple language so that it could be translated throughout the history of man. If you want write something that would to be meaningful thousands years from now you wouldn't want to use today science as your base as most science in the past has be proven wrong as no doubt most of our science today will be in the future.
Science is inferior to truth.
The earth (continent) four corners are north of Israel , south of Israel, east of Israel, west of Israel. Genesis account deliberately went against the religious idea that we are the creation of the stars, sun and moon which man worshiped. Man today still believes he is the creation of the stars. What is the truth, that there is a firmament surrounding the heavens? That the earth has four corners and stands on giant pillars above this great deep abyss?
Plants and trees were created before the sun, the stars (billions of light years away), and the galaxies?

What make you believe man didn't do science in the past. Now most knowledge was destroyed when the civilization was destroyed. The same thing would happen when the Roman Empire fail if it wasn't for the church put up monasteries over Europe not only to save scripture but history and science. Eventually the church starting building hospitals and colleges.I think what creationism is doing is quite childish in a manner, it is sniveling that every word of the Bible is a literal truth, that there is nothing spiritual or metaphoric or allegorical, yet where are all the great scientific minds and scientific findings that grew out the earth during the years of 4000 to 2000 BCE?
Where is the science and scientists for us to study in our academic books and to be taught in our academia?

That was invented by a fiction writer called Washington Irving. The truth is that no ancient viewed the earth as flat. That the days of Columbus is the culminative result of thousands of years of human ignorance?
I'm after thoughts and opinions Gods 7-day creation. Did Moses right it as a narrative to the Israelites? Is Genesis all figurative language?
Thoughts and opinions on the controversial topic!

7 Day creation- literal or figurative?
I would suggest that the Biblical account of Genesis can not be interpreted either literally or figuratively.
The basis on my opinion is John 14:26 KJV
