• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow, ok so now you've totally confused me, your math skills seem fine.

Which only leaves... you are trolling me :p
Okay ... let's go over this again, chief.

Here's what you originally said -- again, with emphasis:
Would you believe 2+2=5 if it said so in the bible Gotts?
Does the Bible say 2 + 2 = 5?

If not, am I at liberty to answer your math questions " 4 " without being accused of trolling?

lol Av, me 'ol mukka, my accusation of trolling was light hearted jesting as I thought would be obvious with the :p smilie.

If you wish to tell me the bible says 2+2=5, then please do so, as you have.
But clearly your math skills are fine and when it comes to math, there is NO arguing it, it is the one and ONLY thing in the entire universe that man can say is 100% proven and 100% NOT arguable.

Now, you offered a scripture line that to me makes no sense whatsoever, you said it has to be under certain circumstances.

I am waiting for you to explain these circumstances.

Now if you gave me some form of different base mathematics where that can happen, as with 9x6=42 using base 13 mathematics. Then fine.

But I seriously doubt the bible gets that complicated with mathematics, but please enlighten me :)

Jesus is the Second Person of the Godhead.

Ok, so now you have 2 or 3 people, plus Jesus and God who are both 1 person and 2 people at the same time?

Ok, I see where you are going.

So can you please put this into an equation for me, the way I see it...

2+1 or 0 + 1 or 2 = 3 or 4 or 5 or 6.

That is the worst math ever in the history of everything. ^_^

Man would you let someone do your wages using that math?

I'm sorry, Ned, I don't believe you.

I think you're playing dumb just to give me a hard time.

Are you seriously telling me that you can't make sense of that verse?

How many persons were in the burning, fiery furnace? 3 or 4?

3... unless you include God pulling them out, in which case 4

What difference does that make?

Seriously, I'm not trying to be difficult, you just are not explaining it clearly.

In mathematics, you cannot have "2 or 3" , if that is the case, then there are 2 separate equations.

I can offer you a line from a book, as I said earlier.

9x6=42

Is this correct?... I tell you now, it is. Do you understand why?

According to the Bible: 2+2=5.

Under a strict set of circumstances.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
It would be interesting if you opened a thread in General Theology with the title "2+2=5", this post verbatim, and a poll of "I agree/I disagree/Other" to see where it goes from there.

Aww naw dude lol. I see you jumped on it :)

I think it would have been more interesting to let someone with a "believer icon" post it in GT. Tamper with the jury pool as little as possible, so to speak, and see how believers respond to it "amongst themselves" without influence from non believers on this one. But no worries lol.

They could still do that, would be interesting to see how the 2 threads differ.

Also, I would like a clear explanation, I often see ideas thrown around and then simply repeated when asked for explanation and it's really childish IMO.

Gerbil's suggest Stars form from cheese.

How do you figure?

Because.... Gerbil's suggest stars form from cheese, clearly you cannot understand

This is all we ever get.

Yeah this type of communication gets old ... sometimes it can be an interesting phenomenon though.

I edited my OP, asked non believers not to vote.
So far 2 believers have been like "huh?" lol
Yeah, only thing is if a believer sees that atheist icon, they might get timid and assume an agenda and such, which can effect how they answer (if at all). But it will be interesting to see nonetheless :)

I wish we could do away with the icons all together. Seriously. I think it would yield much more insightful and honest discussions.

Oh I agree, the psychology behind it is fascinating.
It's just when you are trying to have a conversation it's just... I wanna tear out my eyes and throw them at people ^_^

That's so weird you said that, last night I was thinking I wish I had made my icon Christian, while that would be dishonest and the reason I didn't.
I wonder how my posts would be responded to if I didn't have my little grey man with the hat. (who kind of looks like a Jew now I think about it)

I totally agree, doing away with the icons would yield much more honest posts and responses that are not based on "Oh he's an Atheist/Christian, so I don't even need to read his post because I already disagree"
