  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Power of Life and Worship (from my manuscript "Christian Mythology") Part 4

A good friend asked me a question about this series on prostrate worship. He wanted to know what all that pride looks like today. How do we exhibit that pride? God says in I John 2:16, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is...

The Worship Wars Revisited (from my manuscript "Christian Mythology") Part 1

Although I go to church just about every Sunday for the past thirty years, I have never worshipped there. Never. Now I know why. Like me, you go to a church service that probably includes singing, praying, Scripture reading, and a sermon. In addition to the pastor, many churches have a...

    Are You Engaged in Idolatry?

1 Corinthians 10:6-7 ESV “Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, ‘The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play’.” I found this definition of idolatry online: “A...

    My Personalized Prayer

How do you pray? Some people like to pray in a way that is spontaneous and very conversational. Others like to pray using some kind of set prayers, pretty much word for word, which others may also use. For example, they may pray the “Lord’s Prayer” that we see in Matthew 6:9-13. Some people like...

This is what Christian Worship Should Look Like

I thought about posting this thread in Traditional Theology, where I have posted collections of thrilling liturgical worship before, however, recently I have added to my collection several worship services which are not liturgical, even if they are broadly speaking liturgical, or are from...

Traditional Worship in the Calvary Chapel

Having read with interest Chuck Smith’s Calvary Chapel Distinctives , I did not get the sense that there was anything prohibiting traditional or even liturgical worship in a Calvary Chapel, provided that the focus of the service was entirely Christocentric, and the preaching was based on...

    Restoration of the Original Gospel

Hello, all! After many decades of prayer, scripture study, and spiritual searching, it became clear to me that nearly all churches today do not adhere to one or more of Jesus' original teachings and act and look nothing like 1st century, New Testament churches. It is odd, in my opinion, to call...

The importance of traditional theology and worship

I find myself extremely bothered this evening, because, looking at this list of churches in Cambridge, MA, it dawned on me that the only churches there where one has some assurance of traditional theology, the Roman Catholic parishes and Christ the King Presbyterian Church (PCA) have the...
