  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What in theology prevent Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox from being simply "Christians"?

I've been growing up in Northern Europe, so as I was faced with conversion from Buddhism into Christianity I eventually met other Christians that told me of Christianity in a distinct Protestant flavor, but I didn't ever feel I was met with a God that first demanded of me to choose between one...

Sam Shamoun Debate on Trinity etc. (Isaiah 63 etc.)

I've been listening to this Assyrian Apologist (most likely Protestant). He spends a lot of time dealing with Muslims, but found this broadcast really good. I been studying the historical and theological antecedents of the Trinity for some time. Last night I learned probably the best...

Discussion about the Nature of Sin and frustration

So, I am a Christian, (although I am very bad at it). I struggle with Lust (porn and such) as well as drinking, lying and other vices. While I know these things will not stop God from loving me, according to the Bible, I still don't want to do them. I wish I could just promise God I will never...

What do you think the evil spirit in 1 Samuel 16:14 is?

I just made a video exploring this topic and I'd love to know your thoughts. Basically I think it could either have been a spiritual servant of God (not the devil or a demon) OR a description of Saul's depression.

My beef with Word of Faith theology

Back in the early 1990s, I spent a few years at two WOF churches. One in my hometown and the other in the college town where I was taking classes. My issues come from some of these formal beliefs taken from the WOF board here. (Lots of other people make other kinds of complaints as far...

    Communion - Lords Supper

1 Cor 11: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. (MY NOTE: Two ""keys"" here: ""eat this is my body, which is broken for you"" ""this do in remembrance of me"") 25 After the same manner also he...

    "in" Christ

"In Christ" - "In Him" - "In Whom" Religion is about what you do, your good works, law keeping, giving, church attendance, prayer & so on. The Gospel is about what Christ did. His sacrificial, sin atoning Death, Burial & Resurrection. And when we trust Him, it is about what He does...

    Blasphemy Of The Holy Spirit

If you're a Christian & think you've committed the unforgivable sin, you haven't & you CAN'T! Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (MY NOTE: Scripture proclaims, ALL to be sinners) Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through...

Acts 2 Repent & Be Baptized Parsed

John the Baptist's purpose & baptism were preparatory, not remissive. His repeatedly stated mission was to prepare the way of the Lord (Mal 3:1, Matt 3:3, Mark 1:2–3). His "baptism of repentance" was a call for Israel to return to God (Strong’s H7725 — https://biblehub.com/hebrew/7725.htm)—an...

    Baptism - Spiritual - Circumcision

When Christ preforms the New Testament Holy Spirit baptism it's a spiritual/circumcision & it's done without hands Matt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy...

Theological question about Abram and Sarah.

I've decided to study the OT a bit more and as I was reading Genesis I could not understand one thing and I know this might be a weird question to many. But. Why did God punish Pharaoh for Abraham's lie about Sarah being his sister, not his wife if Pharaoh did not know he wasn't told the truth...

John's Baptism Of Repentance - Jesus Baptism Of Holy Spirit

Matt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: (NOTE: John the Baptist say's Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Ghost) Col 2:11 In whom...

    ELCA vs. UMC

    ELCA and United Methodists Differences

I keep trying to find the differences between ELCA and the UMC. I only find one major difference - that the UMC believes in becoming holy on this earth and has more of a focus on earthly works. However, they still believe in God's grace and that Jesus is the one who saves. They believe that...

Hello everyone, Jordan here. I made an intro thread to start off, and was told to come to this forum to discuss my interest in theology. I am specifically interested in learning about how Early Christians thought, lived and practiced Christianity. I consider myself a non-denominational...
