  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can I be humble? Stronghold of pride.

Hi, I am 22M and have been in a relationship with Christ for about a year now. He is now putting me through a season of prayer and heart-healing; I have been hurt a lot by others in my past. I recently discovered that pride is my stronghold. I have been living my entire life under the shelter...

    Armed for Battle

Isaiah 6:1-7 ESV In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And...

    Humble, Pray, Seek and Turn

2 Chronicles 7:11-14 ESV “Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king's house. All that Solomon had planned to do in the house of the Lord and in his own house he successfully accomplished. Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “’I have heard your prayer...

The last words of Paul (Yazigi) of Aleppo on Mount Athos

Besides the last words (and photos) of Metropolitan Paul which you will find at the link below I remember now his very meek, soft, humble kind of being. In that Sunday, in the morning he held for us the liturgy and in the evening we had a gathering (synaxis) with him. He didn't spoke a lot but...

    Lifting our Burdens

Caught in Sin Galatians 6:1 ESV “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted." Who is this referring to? It is speaking of our fellow believers in Jesus Christ. If any...

    But Take Heart!

Based off John 13-16 Tomorrow I will turn 70 years old, Lord willing. It is hard to believe that I have lived that long. And, the next day will be the year 2020, which is also so unbelievable, too. It seems so futuristic. It brings back memories of old SCI-FI movies I watched as a child or as a...

    Theology of Humility

The Lord has been teaching me a lot of humility lately. Here are my thoughts on how humility is the key to all the other virtues. The opposite of humilty is pride. Pride is a barrier to all virtues and all happiness. 1. Pride is a hindrance to faith. It seems to me that most of the arguments...

    Love in Truth

Romans 12:1 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, this is not merely about Jesus forgiving us our sins so that we can go...

    Will We Sing a Duet?

An Original Work / October 6, 2019 Will we sing a duet one day? Will you bow your knee? Will you pray? Will you commit your life to Christ? Will you stop striving; give your life? Will you open your arms to me? Stop your lying ‘bout your sin spree? Be ye faithful in all you do? You God honor...

    He Opened His Mouth

Matthew 5:1-5 ESV Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted...

Philippians 2:1-2 ESV “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” In Christ Jesus So, for this to work...

    Have This Mind

Philippians 2:5-11 ESV Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human...

    Songs of Praise

Psalm 95:1-5 ESV Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his...

    Holy and Acceptable

Romans 12:1-2 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may...

    Spiritual pride

Jesus attacked the Pharisees for their hypocrisy and for their pride. He did not attack rich men or powerful men with the same vitriol that he reserved for the so called religious leaders of his age. I have been given a sermon to do on pride and I think that asking for help for this might be my...

How To Become A Humble Servant Of The Kingdom Of Heaven

In today’s world, just as it has been from the beginning, mankind strives to be first. Even those who you would consider as “non-competitive” compete with others in countless ways. The way of the world teaches and often pushes people to act this way. Think back as far as Cain and Able and you...
