Any confirmed reports whether he is alive or his whereabouts?

Eh... he is (unofficially) dead. May we have his prayers!
Besides the news spread by the Vatican's news agency there were some hints here and there about him / them.

If someone knows the way of thinking of the people from the vast geographical area where it happened, one of the strongest clues are the money. If so much time passed without any request for money (or any other advantage) for their release shows us that they are dead.

May his memory be eternal - New Martyr Paul, pray for us!

It's hard to say. They were both abducted by Chechen fighters in Syria. Chechens haaaaate Russians, and the two bishops shared the same faith as the Russians so who knows?

I think the Church of Antioch is trying to remain optimistic until they hear something a bit more concrete. We may never known. After all, there's a lot of bishops and priests who were martyred during and after the Bolshevik Revolution who's fates we still don't know exactly today.

Lord have mercy! :crosseo:
