  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Easter and the Pandemic

The pandemic with its numbers of new cases and rising death toll seems to dominate the news. I find it gives Easter a reality check. Essentially, the meaning of Easter is that there is no real life without death. And when I consider other core symbols of the Christian faith, I find the same...

Feel free to use this video in your online Easter Sunday service

Hi folks, I'm a Christian who lives and works (as a videographer) here in the UK. Back in Feb we shot/produced an inspiring spoken word Easter video for a mainstream UK church organization called Evangelical Alliance. Whilst the video turned out great (IMHO) the most rewarding aspect for me was...

Pascha in a time of Pestilence

Pacha, or Easter, this year will be profoundly different for many of us than most years. The 40 day fasting period, or lent, before Easter, has been a period when whole nations have had to give up their normal way of life. It hasn't been so much a question of voluntarily giving up a cherished...

Easter Poll - date the Cross

It's getting near Easter! We celebrate the cross and resurrection because it was the apex of human history. We agree that the earth-shattering sacrifice on Calvary was the fulfillment of that which was written. Why is it then that there isn't unanimous agreement about the date of the...

    Easter sermon text

Reading from Easter Sunday evening communion service: It was the first day of the week, and that very evening, while the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you!” He said to them. 20After He had said this, He...

Confused on how the Date of Easter is Determined

What confuses me is this... The death of Jesus Christ was supposed to be on the night of Passover (today). But Jesus died and rose again on the third day... So wouldn't his resurrection actually be Monday then? How come Easter is on Sunday? if Easter is supposed to be the day of his...

    Resurrection Truths

It's a good Friday, or more fittingly its the greatest Friday humanity has ever experienced! There is a reason for this, this Friday is a commemoration of what happened about 2000 years ago when Christ gave his life on the cross of calvary to redeem humanity! Gods love was poured out for mankind...

Should Christians practice the holidys of Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Halloween is not Christian but neither are the trinity of holidays mentioned every last one has Pagan Roots and in some cases steeped in human sacrifices and we are told by God to avoid the strange practices not of His will. Just because you Christianize a day and slap pretty makeup on the pig...

Note: Needless to say this was all written in advance of Easter I couldn't make blog entries for everyday of Triduum, so instead I just opted to make this one entry on behalf of all the days of Triduum, as well as Easter in particular. How are you celebrating Lent?

I went to a United Methodist Church Ash Wednesday service, and for my "giving up something" for Lent I'm actually not, and instead, I've decided to try to be nicer to my family in preparation for Easter, which is the culmination of Lent. In an Episcopal Church I used to visit, they would only...

    Easter or Passover?

So this year I wanted to celebrate Passover with my family instead of Easter and have the holiday actually commemorate and praise the burial and resurrection of Christ as the Passover lamb, instead of doing the weird egg and rabbit thing I've done my entire life. Does anybody have any experience...
