  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Death Penalty - Non-Religious Arguments

I have never studied the topic of capital punishment from a purely non-religious angle. After listening to Alasdair MacIntyre's recent controversial paper on human dignity I am curious to raise this topic on CF. My hunch is that MacIntyre is right, and as a corollary, when confined to...

Is the Death Penalty Biblical or not?

I'm actually having this conversation on another thread. But the person I'm mainly debating with is, unfortunately, an Atheist, and thus far we clash on every point. So, while I'm continuing that conversation with him, I'm also turning to my brothers and sisters in the faith. What do you guys...

    Executions Can Save Lives

People who don’t believe that executions can stop further murders, and other crimes, should take a look at the criminal career of Paul Eugene Rowles (1948-2013). He first raped and killed Linda Fida, 20, in 1972, at an apartment complex in Miami. Her husband found her dead, naked body in the...

    Christianity and Capital Punishment

By now it should be well-known that Pope Francis has revised the Catholic Catechism to say that capital punishment is inadmissible. What do you think about the relationship between Christianity and capital punishment? I want to hear from all Christians, and I also want to give Catholics a...

Numbers - Putting People to Death

Hello! So, in my Leviticus discussion we began to bleed into Numbers, so I thought I'd just make a new thread so I could do some additional discussion without spamming the last one. So, there are a few different passages in Numbers (and Leviticus, and the OT in general) that discuss people...

The Sin That Leads To Death

The only unforgivable sin is rejecting the Holy Spirit. The reason is that this builds a wall between you and God that doesn't allow you to accept His forgiveness. His forgiveness is still there, but if you intentionally build a wall, you loose access to God's forgiveness of all sins. This is...

Are you for or against the death penalty?

On this issue, I agree with Pope Francis who leads the Catholic Church. Too many innocent people have been killed after being wrongly convicted and wrongly sentenced to the death penalty. On top of that, society does not have the right to take life to show that taking life is wrong. It is, to...
