  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

High Church, Broad Church, Low Church? A mix?

Being new to the group, I am curious to see how people identify. In my own congregation, we have a 'low church' or 'evangelical' praise service on Sunday early morning and we have two Rite II traditional masses later in the morning as well as a charismatic service on Wedsenday. How do you...

    Hello! mainline Protestant, Episcopalian here

Hello everyone! I have recently subscribed to the Christian Forums, and I am enjoying the considerate, thoughtful, and mostly respectful dialogue that takes place here. I particularly enjoy the sharing of news in the Christian world, and, with more people, that means that there is a greater...

    Revelation and Revolution

Recently Fr Gavin Ashenden announced his resignation from the Church of England. I think he has done so with a great deal of integrity, and I mean no criticism, however we don't necessarily agree on all things, that does not detract from the respect I have for him. In a carefully reserved You...

    Anointing During Daily Office

I want to start praying the daily office as found in the 1979 USA BCP, and I want to use my anointing oil to anoint myself every day. Is there an appropriate place during the Rite II morning and evening prayers to do so? Maybe there is a good prayer to use during the free intercession ( maybe A...

    House Cleansing - Seeking Information

I'm a Washington, DC-based freelance writer who's working on an article about "house cleansing"-- a procedure in which a team of Christians walk through a house attempting to locate, identify, and drive out evil spirits. Several Anglican churches in the Washington, DC suburbs currently offer...

Can the Liberals's reconcile with the Fundementalists

So I did a bunch of research on the whole Episcopal Church's suspension by the Anglican Communion a few months back for a youtube thing I do (link here on the incident if anyone is interested). And what I kept wondering by the end is how practically Liberal Christians could reconcile with...

    Confused Young Man

Hi there, you may have seen my earlier posts on this forum where I have been struggling to deal with a decision on whether or not the LDS Church was right for me, or you may have seen my recent post on the Introductions forum. Either way, I am confused and in my LDS thread, it was suggested that...

finding it hard to focus on God

hi there my name's Bethany, been an Anglican since my teen years, now quite devoted. Although I find it hard to focus on praying or listening to God without other voices popping up in my head. Does anyone else here get that? The reason I put it in our sub group is I wasn't really sure where it goes.

    Anglican or Catholic or Orthodox?

Hi! I'm stuck deciding between these three Churches. I like the Catholic Church but I do have some concerns. One is that it seems to have become more liberal in appearance, even if not in doctrine, since Vatican II. I would much prefer a Mass in Latin or at least a Mass without contemporary...

    Basic Episcopal Beliefs

I was raised in the United Methodist church before coming to college about three years ago. As I matured and my beliefs were examined a bit more, started to slowly drift away from the UMC in search of a new denomination that is more socially current (allows female leadership, affirms LGBT...
