CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bad news at work. I’m getting my hours cut.
With the laws changing regarding foreigners here, and the government’s efforts to align with the EU, they’re starting to require visas of Russians (imagine an American having to go to a Canadian embassy to apply for a visa just to take even a brief trip across the border). Even though we could stay, grandmother could not, and if it goes through, then many Russians, a majority of whom fled either Russia or Ukraine because they oppose the war, will have to leave this country, shutting down the kind of schools interested in hiring me. Some are already leaving or have left. Shrinking numbers are already shutting down the smaller schools.
I’m in poor shape, spiritually, emotionally, and physically not so great, either. Financially is going downhill again. Prayers appreciated.

Please remember the servant of God, Helen, in your prayers. She developed septicaemia after giving birth to her third child and unless a miracle occurs, she will have both her legs amputated.

I’d like to ask for additional prayers if anyone feels up to it. The stresses on us from the failures of international diplomacy and Montenegro moving towards ejecting Russians from the country to please the EU have been creating cracks in our relationships, most lately with my wife, but also my younger son in Germany. I can’t tell everything here, but we are in trouble, and issues that I dare not name here have raised their heads. Returning to Russia seems even less likely now, staying here is becoming more problematic, and building a new life somewhere else from scratch even more so. What started out as a dream job in September has slowly descended into nightmare. I get a little online comfort from Fr Seraphim of Iona, one of the few priests/monks who feels like a doctor actually coming to my bedside and not someone just teaching me. I have been on the edge for a very long time now, have been asking God to show us the way like George Bailey, and feeling only silence.
