CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My parents want to go out tomorrow for my birthday. I don't want to go. I don't like my birthday! I don't want to celebrate it at all.

I know how you feel, I am like that sometimes, but I found myself regretting not having those memories with loved ones. Our time is short, and I think most of us take it for granted. I try to spend more time with family, because I know that they will not always be around. This is the time and place to experience those unique moments with the people God has given you.

It's not that. I just don't like celebrating my birthday. I never have liked it. That's a good way to try to view it tho.

My birthday is October 5th.
It's never really celebrated much. Sometimes my kids remember it, other times not. My family stopped observing my birthday when I was still a teenager, but kept celebrating everyone else's. My ex didn't care about my birthday.
I spoke to my brother yesterday, the only family member I still have contact with. He didn't mention my birthday being this weekend. Acted like he wasn't even aware, just like they have done for decades.
