  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Prophecy of a Greek Orthodox Monk.

Saint Paisius the Svyatogorets is an Athonite elder who left an example of indestructible faith to all Orthodox. People far from the Church are mainly interested in the prophecies of the saint, recorded by his contemporaries.
St. Paisius the Holy Mountain was called Arsenios Eznepidis in the world. He was born on July 25, 1924 in the village of Farasy in Cappadocia (Turkey). He received his school education in Konitsa, where his family moved. There he, following the example of Christ, mastered carpentry.

The monastic path of the boy Arseny was predicted by St. who baptized him. Arseny of Cappadocia.

He moved to Mount Athos immediately after serving in the army. Until the age of 30, he was a novice in various monasteries, and then accepted the ryassophore with the name Averky. He spent most of his free time praying and reading the biographies of the heavenly saints.

In 1954, Fr. became his mentor. Simeon from the Philotheus monastery. He tonsured the spiritual student into the minor schema with the name Paisius, in honor of Patriarch Paisius II of Constantinople.

In 1962, he made a pilgrimage to Sinai, where he worked tirelessly and used his salary to buy food for the nomads of the Sinai desert. After 2 years, the monk returned to Athos, and in 1966 he was hospitalized and had to undergo lung surgery.

In the spring of 1978, he moved to the Mount Athos monastery of Kutlumush. There to Fr. Many people came to Paisius from all over Greece - as a spiritual leader, adviser, comforter and seer
In 1993, his health deteriorated greatly. The following winter he underwent surgery, but it did not help. He wanted to spend his last days on the Holy Mountain, but he was unable to fulfill this desire. After his death on July 12, 1994, the saint found his final refuge in the convent of St. John the Evangelist, which he founded in the village of Suroti.

The holy Orthodox elders made a lot of prophecies. Some people read them like fairy tales; they are not taken seriously. And only when the event occurs do they begin to remember: “But this or that elder once spoke about this!”

Orthodox prophecies - their goal is to call people to repentance and show the way to God. A correct attitude towards the sayings of the prophets will bring undoubted spiritual benefits. "For the Lord God does nothing without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets. Amos 3:7"

The holy Greek ascetic Paisius of Svyatogorsk is widely known to all Orthodox Christians. Let's remember his prophecies and find out what awaits the whole world in the near future.

Volume II
SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

Saint Paisios discusses the issue of new ID cards in Greece, arguing that the ID card is not the seal but an introduction to the seal 666. Advising people to consult with their spiritual fathers and be patient until the church responds. The Church must take a correct position and explain to the faithful that accepting the new ID would amount to a spiritual fall. Also suggests that the State should respect the freedom of choice of the faithful, allowing those who want to keep the old one to keep it and those who want the new ones to have the new ones. By the time that the new ID comes out, there is the possibility of the wrath of God being upon us.

The holy Greek monk spoke about the seal of the Antichrist 666 in his brochure: Elder Paisios: The sign of the times, 666

The Revelation of John the Theologian (Apocalypse), chapter 13

He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666 (Rev.13:15-18).

Saint Laurentiy of Chernigov (Ukraine), who reposed in the Lord in 1950, discusses the signs of the end times and the coming of the Antichrist in this video. In particular, there were two conversations in which the saint describes the events that will lead to the coming of the Antichrist and how Orthodox Christians should prepare for the end of times.

The article will be continued, I will publish it as soon as I prepare it:

It has also since come out by people who actually knew St Paisios personally that these so-called "prophecies" of his are either 1) largely made up and completely fabricated or 2) taken completely out of context and twisted

I gotta add it’s also hard for me to take seriously things claimed in the same AI voices that tell me the megalodon is still swimming and has a habit of barely not attacking submarines.

Just be careful about the source of the prophecies of St. Lawrence of Chernigov. One of the popular biographies written about him attributes several prophecies to him that he never spoke. They were added by the author of the biography and are absolute nonsense. The author himself has a history of mental health problems and questionable moral behaviors. Many internet videos included the false prophecies. The original biography of St Lawrence doesn't contain the added prophecies, but is hard to find and only prited in Russian. I found a pdf of this biography online in an old Russian periodical and compared it's content to that of the available biography. They are different.

The mark isn't going to be external at all.
I mean....one man dies and goes to be with the Lord..
The other dies and goes into everlasting punishment.
The system hasn't changed.
Just letting you know, the thread you are responding to is in the Eastern Orthodox subforum. You are welcome to post in fellowship and ask questions, but as with all the congregational subforums you are not allowed to post anything contrary to the teaching of that particular congregation.
I'm not saying you've done that, just be aware of where the thread originated before responding.

Actually, many are in his book Spiritual Awakenings that I own that a nun at the monastery he built for them wrote about with his permission.

Also, we aren't ignore the prophecies, according to St. Porphyrios. They are there for a reason. Repentance. You can watch the video I posted in the WWIII thread. The Saints' and Elders' visions of what they foresaw are indeed true. However, our prayers can alter and even change them. That's the key. :)

“Great scot, you’re right, it IS a sea serpent!“

That was the best part, right at the end of the of the original Submarine Voyage at Disneyland, and the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea themed version that was removed from Disney World in 1994. And the sea serpent was so hilarious looking; and in contrast to the mermaids encountered earlier, to which the Captain said “Mr. Baxter, check the air pressure”, in this case the voice actor just played it straight.”

Then ”All ashore please, all ashore.” I had thought it was Paul Frees who did the voice of the Captain, but I’m no longer completely sure.

Okay, but, this kind of eliminates their usefulness outside their immediate temporal context -- it's one thing if the elder tells it directly to you, but, like, at decades remove... There's a reason these sorts of things don't get published and preserved for ages, historically, and it's not because they weren't ever said. And this also explains why, generally, people are told not to pay much attention to these sorts of things.
