Working Class Ditching Dem Party In Droves As Some Say It’s ‘Fighting For Everybody Else’ Besides Americans

August 12, 2025

Many working-class Americans who previously voted Democratic are expressing skepticism about the party being able to regain their vote in future elections, the New York Times (NYT) reported Tuesday.
Several working-class interviewees told the NYT that they struggled with their decisions to vote for former President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. The report comes as Democrats attempt to persuade voters to embrace their ideas ahead of the upcoming midterms and 2028 White House election.
“I think I’m done with the Democrats,” Desmond Smith, a black man who voted for Biden in 2020, told the NYT. Smith told the outlet that he voted for President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
When asked how the Democratic Party could win his vote back, Smith told the NYT that Democrats need to “fight for Americans instead of fighting for everybody else.”
“It seemed like they [Democrats] were more concerned with [diversity, equity and inclusion] DEI and LGBTQ issues and really just things that didn’t pertain to me or concern me at all,” Kendall Wood, a truck driver from Virginia, told the NYT. Wood told the NYT that he voted for Trump in 2024 after backing Biden in 2020.
Question - what are they doing to bring back their supporters?

Let's see how that works for them!

Have you ever heard the phrase "out of the frying pan, into the fire?"

When they get burned, they'll be back nursing their wounds.

They’re just out there somewhere stating evil is good and good evil. Make no sense to take the enemy into your shirt so he won’t kill you.
Evil is spelled out in the ten commandments. Evil is spelled out in the Bible. "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Catholics have the corporal works of mercy.
They are based on the teachings of Jesus and include the following:
  1. Feed the hungry: Provide food to those in need.
  2. Give drink to the thirsty: Offer water or beverages to those who are thirsty.
  3. Clothe the naked: Provide clothing to those who lack it.
  4. Shelter the homeless: Offer a place to stay for those without a home.
  5. Visit the sick: Spend time with and care for those who are ill.
  6. Visit the imprisoned: Reach out to those who are incarcerated.
  7. Bury the dead: Ensure that the deceased are given a proper burial.

    3

These works respond to the basic needs of humanity and reflect the love and compassion that should be shown to all
Our nation has been descending into evil at a feverish pace since 1/20/2025.

That's not news, it's been the elephant in the Democrat's living room for decades.
Question - what are they doing to bring back their supporters?
Nothing so far, and that's not news either.

There were over a million casualties that would not have happened were it not for Joe BIden. In addition hundreds of thousands of people were trafficked and we many never find out what happened to a lot of the children. The sordid violations and twisting of the law by a number of Democrats, and supported by many Democrats, brought our country to the brink of destruction. Still rogue judges try and persecute those who disagree with their politics. They are even going after the Little Sisters of the Poor again.

The below image was (as in isn't any more) the "Who We Serve" page on the DNC website in the run-up to the election last year.

The more observant of you might notice which demographic isn't who they serve...

References please (objective sources only) for "hundreds of thousands of people were trafficked."
That Democrats "twisted the law" 1% as often as the current president has done in 6 months.
That there is a single "rogue judge" who isn't a Trump appointee.

In the meantime, the "million casualties" due to COVID are all on the president who refused to wear masks--or let his staffers wear them, held "super spreader events" that killed Herman Cain and almost killed Chris Christie, pretended that COVID was "pretend" and suggested the kind of quack cures his current HEW Chief is famous for.

One reminder--coercion and threats are not "peacemaking." They are the actions cowardly bullies use to try to gain power over the vulnerable.

Because only Democrats feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, visit the imprisoned? That's what they'd like us to believe. It's certainly what they claim 24/7.

Question - what are they doing to bring back their supporters?
Not nearly enough.

Though, I have to say, I'm not sure what the alternative would be. Certainly, the GOP is not on the side of working people, so who is?

Seems to me, either an actual labor party needs to form, and become viable, or the Democrats could get their act together and actually do something for the people they are supposed to be representing. Because the Republicans won't.

-- A2SG, the GOP doesn't care about you unless you're rich enough, or can be useful for rich people....

Well they need to drop the whole ultra liberal woke crusade and every member who's associated with it for starters. As for the claim that Republicans are against the working class, it doesn't wash because too much of the working class don't agree with it. To the working class, the Democrats are more about raising their taxes to give to the non-working class and people in other countries. Not to mention enabling zillions of people to pour in and claim refugee status and get supplied with cash and benefits. The working class has ended up further and further at the back of the line of DNC priorities.

Why? LGBT people need advocates too, just as working people do.

Maybe you could then point out the policies supported by the GOP that help working people, and not just the very rich? I'll fully admit that working people have many legitimate gripes with the Democratic party, but what does the GOP offer that would serve them better?

I agree that the Democratic Party hasn't done nearly enough to help working people, but the rest of that seems a mischaracterization. The Democratic party is a large tent, and perhaps they do try to do too much for too many different people with too many differing needs. But, it seems to me, that is largely because the other party is not only not doing anything to help them, but is actively working to harm them.

So, while I'll freely admit the Democratic party has many problems, I don't see a better alternative out there.

-- A2SG, nor a viable one on the horizon....

That's just the way it is. Way too much radical progressive woke.

Nope. I'm just pointing out reasons why the DNC is unpopular.

For many in the working class the GOP is the better alternative. Why? Listen to those who talk about it and you'll know. Look up commentators the right likes to listen to. Watch a few Gutfeld clips. Especially what Tyrus has to say. There's a reason why Gutfeld's ratings are so high. It's the direction more and more Americans are gravitating towards.

Some might say not enough, given how much opposition is faced.

Nope. I'm just pointing out reasons why the DNC is unpopular.
I've been a member of the Democratic party for over 40 years, I'm fully aware of the party's problems. Neither I nor any other registered democrat needs anyone else to tell us what our problems with the party should be.

For many in the working class the GOP is the better alternative. Why?
Good question. You may remember, I asked it earlier. Got an answer yet?

Most of what I've heard are people parroting Trump's lies about how much he "loves" working people, or the usual right-wing talking points about how much we need tax cuts for billionaires and lower taxes for corporations who already barely pay any. I've yet to see any real, concrete policies coming from the GOP that will actually benefit working people.

They need to find a way through the opposing party labeling what they are, but really aren't. I think the saying goes, and it speaks to the horrid Dem messaging, if you don't define who you are, your opponent will define who you are.

As an example: make American great again is for all. Lowered taxes, balanced budget, more jobs, balanced economy. Extended unemployment benefits, stimulus checks, everyone loves prosperity, one last before the trib.

I'm not interested in getting into a protracted argument with you. Whatever you have to argue against it and say against it, doesn't change the way it is. It being why the DNC is becoming less popular and the GOP is becoming more popular.
