At the very least, he should have to pay back the $28k for the product he destroyed. If you accepted product that was paid for by someone else for a specific purpose, and then lied and destroyed it, you're on the hook for that.

As far as the "ethical concerns", it sounds like the parents were in on it and went their specifically because they new that was the "hook up spot"

I'll go out on a limb here...

If a government entity started mandating that people had to undergo chemo for stage 4 terminal cancer prior to being allowed to seek physician assisted suicide (dying with dignity), and there was a doctor who was helping them "facilitate" that process without actually having to do the miserable chemo (even if it meant bending the rules), would that doctor be viewed as a "villain" or "purveyor of civil disobedience" by the same group of people who have a problem with this doctor?

I say that, because "breaking the rules" is often portrayed as an act of heroism when the topic is different.

Or, how about if the we do the exact inverse... certain states made it their policy to not recommend the covid vaccine to children. If a doctor in TX or FL went against their government guidelines, and still recommended it to young children and got in trouble, and a democratic politician at a higher level of government helped get them off the hook from State charges, would the feelings be the same?
