I also believe that just because you are here legally because a past administration allowed you here doesn't mean you have a right to be permanently here.
I believe that most of the people that Biden allowed to come in the long "caravans" should likely be deported if they did not immediately apply for (and were granted) asylum, especially if they've only been here for a matter of months. The previous administration allowed
far more people in than we could possibly handle. Many tried to sneak in right before Trump took office simply because they
knew business would be back to normal.
I think due process of IMMIGRATION law should be followed. Which is far different than other Criminal statutes.
I dont care if you have no criminal history. Being an illegal immigrant is enough, because that in and if itself makes you a criminal.
I acknowledge that every person who intentionally crosses the border illegally has committed a crime. There are many who
do try to become citizens, though. I've read of some who are literally days (or perhaps weeks) away from either finalizing the citizenship process or from their asylum hearing. I believe those individuals should either be fast-tracked through the courts or permitted to stay until those are completed.
My
opinion is that we should be
focusing on criminals and those uninterested in working
first (and, obviously, any who might be rioting and causing strife.) I do feel somewhat bad for those individuals who are actively working, trying to better themselves in our country, but they did it the
wrong way.
I've met a lot of decent, hard-working people who were here illegally. They weren't "bad people" - they did, however, enter the US the wrong way and
really should have tried to correct that mistake.
The Bible says we are to follow the law of the land. The law says it is illegal to live here if you're not a citizen,
unless certain conditions are met. Running across the border in secret, never applying for citizenship, etc - these are not showing respect to the US or to God's law. Yes, we should be merciful, but things need to be done in the proper manner.
