Can anyone enlighten me as to what happened? Was it the event condemning me? Was this experience supernatural?

A few weeks ago I had a very strange experience occur. I was driving and I noticed two road signs in a row that had my middle name and my fathers middle name as the road names. As I continued driving, I heard a voice come in my head saying my full name and that I am condemned to hell. It freaked me out and I pull over immediately to the nearest parking lot.

It was a uhaul center. When I got there and parked. The vehicle parked with no one in it lights started flickering, it did so for about 10 mins. I went and looked at the truck after it stopped and the license plate had my birth year in the numbers and it was an Arizona perm license plate. I live no where near AZ. The truck also has snacks painted on it, as others did in the parking lot. When I went back to my truck the lights started flickering again.

This event freaked me out and I don’t know what to make of it. Before it happened I had been praying to Jesus to come into my life and for surrender to sin. I have a problem with drinking and fornication. I’ve been in an immoral sexual relationship with someone I’m not married for over 4 years. I had tried to break it off after that prayer, but feel back into it after backsliding into drinking and just told her I wasn’t feeling well.

Prior to this relationship I was even worse, I lived in the casual hookup culture, had a very loose view of religion and thought that everything we do is forgiven and ok. I have a hard time with breaking up with her because she feels like the one, but she isn’t at this time interested in marriage, but maybe down the road.

Anyways after the event I got so stressed out and drank again, I thought for sure it was me missing my lance chance to become a real Christian and I’m now done for. I’m still with the girl, but keep going back n forth whether I should break it off.

Can anyone give me insight to the event? Was it the voice of the enemy? Was it Jesus trying to scare me to correction? Was I really condemned? The only thing strange about it is the vehicle was parked in area not approved for parking, so maybe it was a trick from the enemy??

Any insight and prayers for this is well appreciated. Thank you.

John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that he gave* his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him."

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, "

So what ever you heard was not from God. God sees you through Christ Jesus as its written you are in right standing with God aka righteousness. He already died for all your sins. He never condemns you never mad at you He said He will never leave you. Think about it like this. There is no truth in Satan he can only lie. So if he says your condemned to hell just flip what he said and rejoice.

Just the enemy trying to steal your joy. When those thoughts pop up just speak one or both of these scriptures. Say fear pops up...I say No! God has not given me the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. The joy of the lord is my strenght

Yes, Christ judges, but Christ’s judgements don’t scare us who call on Christ’s name & who seek to do his will. His judgements aren't meant to scare people. If I tell you ‘if you excessively drink & drive you’re going to crash’, it’s not meant to scare you. It’s meant to correct you. It’s meant to free you. It’s done out of love. If it’s not out of his love, he has no reason to tell you you are condemned.

It sounds scary to you b/c you want to reject it. You have been rejecting it. You didn’t listen to the whole message. You panicked. You have Christian in your Avatar, but saying 'I accept' & going to church on Christmas doesn't save if you don't really care.

I don't think it was 'the enemy.' We are too quick to blame Satan when a lot of times it's ourselves. Usually the enemy wants us to be condemned & is quiet about it, or tells us false Gospels like 'absolutely no one is condemned at all, whether they be Buddhist, Muslim, etc.'

I also don’t know if it was God working supernaturally. Continue seeking truth, asking him & others. If it was him acting supernaturally or, he will let you know. Spirit probably convicting (working) in you - which is supernatural.

Thanks for the reply. To be clear I was not drinking when this happened, I had not drank for a week. I’ll continue working on becoming a better Christian and try not to ruminate over this event too much.

Understand. I can tell you’re trying. This is good.

You don’t become a ‘better Christian.’ You become ‘a more mature Christian’. The sinful part of you gets weaker & weaker, dying, the Christian (healthy) part of you grows & grows, from a little baby seed, to a tiny plant, to a big tree, producing fruit. The plant doesn’t get ‘better’ – it does what it’s supposed to as the seed God planted.

We do know that the evil one can put thoughts into our heads. But the Almighty also communicates to us with thoughts in our head.

We can go with what we know for sure is communication from him, though, namely instructions that he gives us in the Bible.

So, my friend, your prayer is first, not to know who put that thought into your head, but to sincerely repent, and ask the Lord to give you strength to lead a righteous life. I said for him to give you the strength. For you certainly do not have that strength on your own.

None of us have the kind of strength that can break the chains that go on when we have kept on sinning . As the Bible says, anyone who continues to sin becomes a slave to sin.

The good news is that our Lord and Savior came to set the captives free and only he can set you free. Not any efforts on your own part, except the effort to trust him, and believe in him to heal you.

That is my prayer for you. That you will turn it all over to him with humble repentance. Don’t try on your own strength. Rely on his strength and mercy. Always.

I think its because you are seeking God, and every move you make to God is going (usually/sometimes) to be met with opposition from the devil.
I don't think it was God, God wouldn't tell anyone they are condemned like that, if it was a warning the message would be different with hope in it. Jesus came to save us, not to condemn us, less in this earth when we are still alive.
i think this was a scare from the enemy. Fear opens doors to the devil.

But like the other post said, we need to repent and try to follow Jesus correctly!.

Thank you for the reply and prayer, I’ve felt that I was “ok,” since I’ve turned from away from casual relationships and went into a steady one, thought that we were married “in the eyes of Jesus,” but coming to the realization that I’m just justifying the relationship. I don’t think I’ll met anyone else, so it’s either stay and possibly jeopardize salvation or be celibate. It’s certainly a tough spot.

In addition to Jesus saying it's like a seed growing, King David compares it to the clay (you) being molded by the potter (God) in Psalms. Neither the seed nor the clay becomes something different (better), they become what they were meant to be, what God started when he began & continues to do. The New Testament letters also say it's putting on a new self. It's a transformation.

Welcome to CF! Sometimes flesh driven anxieties can lead to superstitious thoughts rather than a genuine supernatural event from our Father. He is not the author of confusion so keep discernment in mind.

You can be celibate and even comfortable with that. Again, not through trying.

I guess all Christians have discovered that when they try and try in a difficult area of temptation for them, that has a stronghold on them, that they will have some success.

But it will be for a short time only. And not too uncommonly the temptation will grow stronger over time.

I have found that sometimes it helps to pray that I pray the right way, which means with the right sincere heart, to get the help.

It is good that you want to do the right thing. But life is confusing and hard and temptation is everywhere. But of course the Almighty is everywhere at all times, and he through his son has defeated the world.

I pray for you, and I pray for you to pray for yourself, that you will surrender to the only one who can really help.

AZ (occasionally) mean Alpha and Omega. Middle names might be like hearts (or in my family informal third names are). Is Jesus bringing your heart and your dad's heart together or reminding you how close you always were?

For me the bigger issue was alcohol, it can cause major short and long term problems. It also takes a time to think and see clearly again once alcohol is stopped.

Celibacy is a pattern of refraining from sex for any reason. It would include any kind of sex, as for example in also keeping away from with sexually tantalizing images and thoughts.

Either the truck is programmed to look attended or there was a random malfunction. Perhaps a snack firm is making considerable use of that depot at the moment. Street names - such coincidences are very likely; we are allowed to find them amusing but not get superstitious.

I’d like to think it was a malfunction and hope it was because there is nothing else to explain what happened.
