  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My outreach ministry is primarily to Jews.

By taking into account Jewish history and culture and even names. The Gospel message is the same for everyone, but it can be presented in a variety of contexts. It's what Paul meant when he said "To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews." (1 Cor. 9:20a) An interesting statement since Paul actually was a Jew, but he adapted his presentation to fit into the context of his Jewish brethren who were not knowledgeable about the ministry of Jesus and how he fulfilled the prophecies about the Messiah foretold by Moses and the prophets. The best example of what I do can be found in my book The Messiah Prophecy in the Tanakh. (Tanakh is the Jewish term for what we call the Old Testament).

Do you tell Jews that Jesus taught Torah observance or that he did away with the Torah?

I tell Jewish people that Jesus mediated the New Covenant promised by Jer. 31:31-34 and that the New Covenant has fulfilled the prophecies about the Messiah who offered his blood for their atonement as foretold in the Tanakh (Isa. 53).
