Primarily, yes. I did a test and also have studied the history of our family back to the early 1400s, and based on familial name they were probably Norman before then. On one side they were almost exclusively English, but the other side has some German, Swiss and Scottish.

Oohh, I would be interested to know more about your family tree and history. What can you tell me about it?
The familial name before it was changed in the 1400s was "St. Leger" and then was changed in the mid 1400s, likely due to the change in the monarchy to the house of Tudor. Ralph St Leger of Ulcombe in Kent was Sheriff of Kent in 1467-8 and was constable of Leeds Castle in Kent. You can see his grave site still in Kent.

That family side was pretty local to England. Eventually they moved into Ireland as part of the colonizers in the North. Then they made their way into Massachusetts in the early 1700s but rather quickly moved to Pennsylvania and then down to North Carolina. One was a Loyalist in the war for Independence and was in jail in NC for part of that time....another on the other side fought and died in 1777 at the Battle of Oriskany in New York for the Continental Army.

Pretty much after that people stayed put until they made it down here to FL when it became a Territory.

My little sister (she's aged 33) had a DNA test done and my family and I are 99% English bloodline and 1% Scottish.

Is anyone else here of English blood?

:)

Something I never share but yeah same here 99%. Had it checked with more then one and all came back exactly the same 99%. So lol I tell my wife all the time.. I am sure I am NOT spelling this right but I say now I am "UK N". Not a word but.. I like it! Yeah looked into my original name and crest blah blah blah.

What does English blood mean? Flemish? Anglo-Saxon?

I mean their ancestors come from England. I guess you could say 'British', which includes Wales and Scotland, maybe Northern Ireland. I have a long line of American ancestors who have lived in the USA since the war for independence. My ancestors probably fought in the war for independence. They most likely were British and Irish. Georgia used to be a penal colony were the British gov sent their petty criminals. The rich British gentry went to Georgia and started plantations. They had poor British people as servants, then black people as slaves. The rich people got away with a lot of crimes back then.

I guess I mean Anglo-Saxon.

Can I suggest you quietly edit your post to change 'penile' colony to 'penal' colony?

There is a significant and embarrassing difference in the meaning of the two words.

I have lots of English in colonial tmes; lots of families in Connecticut, and Massachusetts. The line I'm interested in now is Boone. I share Daniel Boone's ancestry but his line isn't traced very far. Some of my southern roots go back to Scotland; I like the German line See(Zeh). My mother had a lot of German and wasn't interested in her English ancestry. :(

I have hundreds of English ancestors who settled in Massachusetts, Maryland and Virginia. I also have 5 Gateway Ancestors found in Douglas Richardson's books. They tie me in with some very interesting Medieval aristocrats like Marmaduke Constable, the Plantagenets starting with Edward III and going back plus 19 of the 25 Magna Carta Surety Barons.
