Hello,
I hope to meet Christians here to talk, about believing, the Bible and life. I was baptized as a child but lost my connection to god in my youth. 3 years ago I found god again. But that was not from one day to another. It was some kind of journey. It was a long time full of struggle and doubts. I read and prayed a lot. And today I am glad to say that I found Jesus. He is in my heart and I know he will stay forever.
Here in Germany Christians are becoming less and less. It is unusal to be Christian here. Almost all historical churches are almost empty and most visitors are getting old. So I hope to meet Christians here. I love to talk in English. But I am not used to it. And I love the states. So perhaps I´ll find brothers or sisters from english speaking countries to talk and having Jesus in our midst . I hope so :)

Welcome. I'm an American living in Switzerland. The church situation in my little community is pretty funny. The church brings in about CHF 1.6 million per year, but only about 30 really old people go to church on a normal week. Special events with food and alcohol are a different story. That's all due to the church tax. There is no incentive for church leaders to be more responsive to the community. Fewer people attending means less work for them because the money still flows.

In my opinion the entire church system here has gradually gone off the rails. It's not really fixable unless everyone in a leadership position leaves. Also, the church tax needs to stop. Anyway, I accept that little will change here.

In America, I think a lot of churches are sleeping. They don't understand the forces working against them. Although, church leaders have to try harder because there is no church tax.

Concerning the Bible, the best thing you can do is to think about what you read. Why does it say that? Why does this or that make sense? Sometimes it may take years to understand something. Just keep these things in the back of your mind as you move forward. Gradually, more and more things will make sense.

Greetings in Jesus' precious name, brother! I also came to faith from a non-religious background, and found a resting place with Jesus a few years ago.

I know how hard it is, being surrounded by an atheist world, and sometimes finding agreement with those around us who call themselves christians, but often also sorrow and lonelineness, when it is discovered that we prefer Gods word to our own comforts.

It would be lovely to meet you; we are in Engwierum, the Netherlands. Perhaps it is close by enough, that we can visit? If so, please send an email with some contact details - in any case it would be nice to call; you can also read a bit about us here (Contact - Reviving Anabaptism in the Netherlands).

I'm doing my best to connect anabaptists in Europe with that website, but as far as I have been able to discover, there are no anabaptist churches in Germany.

May God bless you, and may the love of Jesus Christ be a light to your feet, and solace to your soul in dark times.
