I read somewhere this week that Hillary Clinton is seriously looking at a possible third try for President in 2024. If Biden chooses not to run, which seems likely at this time, what would Hillary's chances be? Would she only go if Harris decides not to run or might she even take on the VP in the primaries and caucuses?

I think she has a lust to be the First Woman President that transcends all rationality. I doubt the Democrat machinery or voters share her lust. If she is the best the Democrats can do in 2024, that would speak volumes. In both parties, I keep wondering why the younger generations that dominate every other area of life keep settling for these dinosaurs as Presidential candidates.

I know she has money ... but it would be nice if she didn't buy the DNC again.

What makes you think that? Why do you think that she is actually considering running?

Okay, where did you read that? Sounds like something from a Republican fundraiser. Does she still have the power of a boogeyman?

Traditionally, the party in power does not hesitate to endorse the incumbent for a second term (and third, in one isolated case that made perfect sense at the time). So far, all of them accepted except the few who failed to complete their first term (William Harrison, Richard Nixon, and John Kennedy). So chances are, if President Biden wants to run again, the Democratic Party would not endorse Hillary Clinton this time.

However, during his announcement that he will pick a woman for Vice President, Biden made it clear he is looking for someone who could replace him as the Acting President at any time. He sounded like a person who wants to be a one-term president. So if he chooses not to run again, his endorsement would be for a different woman: Kamala Harris.

Of course, I will vote for the Democrat who has the best chance of winning in November. in 2024. If Biden is that person, I will vote for him. If Hillary Clinton runs against Harris, I will vote for Clinton because she has all the qualifications and won about 3 million more votes than Donald Trump in 2016.

I do not recall where I read it. At first I thought it might have been here at CF, but then I doubted it when I did not see such a thread here.

Dickie Nixon was re-elected in 1972, (resigned 1974).

Although Hillary would likely be an adept president, she should consider the polarized tribalism in America presently. Her running again would only exacerbate anger and resentments for many Americans. I hope she truly possesses more humility than others in politics today. Yet powerful dems are likely appealing to her ego trying to convince her to run. I wish politics could attract some more competent, motivated and respectable candidates. But I can understand the hesitancy in running for president.

Seriously, it's been reported on a number of different news sources. Of course, that doesn't guarantee that she actually will run, and it's early to talk about 2024.

But there is new speculation, none of which seems to have been damped by any comments from Hillary herself. It shows how weak the Democratic Party "bench" is, though. Who else is there--"Mayor Pete?," the guy who contended in the primaries last time, running on a resume headed by the fact that he once was the mayor of a small Midwestern city? ;)
