I’ve been trying to find out how I can apply for a religious exemption from the COVID vaccination mandate, I’m wondering if anyone has any information on how to go about this process. I’m not interested in debating if someone likes it or not or if they think religious mandates shouldn’t be allowed, that’s not the topic of this thread so please refrain from such comments in this thread.

You have to talk to your pastor, priest, rabbi, imam, etc. However some church bodies are not permitting their clergy to write these such as the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.

Although some may be exempt from the vaccination for clear medical reasons, there is no exemption in the Orthodox Church for Her faithful from any vaccination for religious reasons, including the coronavirus vaccine. For this reason, letters of exemption for the vaccination against the coronavirus for religious purposes issued by priests of the Archdiocese of America have no validity, and furthermore, no clergy are to issue such religious exemption letters for any reason.

Currently there is no mandate, but if their was, that organization would explain any exemptions they allow. But you can gather info from your own church that opposes vaccines. That is usually the only evidence allowed in an exemption hearing.

My company is telling me that because of Biden’s executive order requiring all companies with more than 100 employees to be vaccinated that I will have to get vaccinated or I will be terminated.

It is my understanding that religious exemption is not limited to any official denominational doctrines and that personal interpretation is just as valid as official church doctrines.

I’m not officially affiliated with a church at the moment because my theology doesn’t quite line up with any one particular denomination that I know of. My theology is kind of a mix of several denominations.

Not really possible unless you convert to the Dutch Reformed Church or Church of Christ Scientist. These are the only two I could find that probably have Elder support. Blessings.

Freedom of religion is not limited to official church beliefs. If it were then that would contradict the very definition of freedom of religion.

This would be like saying that my beliefs are invalid and that I must conform to the beliefs of a particular organization.

Employers are the ones limiting your religion not the government. United Airlines rejected all those who used religion as their way to avoid vaccination.

If I may....
This is not accurate. Biden’s order includes exceptions for workers seeking religious or medical exemptions from vaccination. Just need to find where it is written and present to your employer. Like I said it is the employer.

My employer has a form that's used to apply for religious exemptions. You download the form, fill it out with an explanation of how your religion conflicts with vaccines, and submit it to a particular office. There's probably a similar form for your employer. Contact your HR department and see if they can help you.

Found this for you. Scroll down towards the end.

Thanks I’ll read is as soon as I get a chance. I did notice it mentions school vaccination mandates which I find interesting since I was appalled to find that public schools in my area are mandating masks or social distancing. So that seems like a contradiction to mandate vaccination based on safety and public health but not mandate masks or social distancing. You would think that if safety and public health were the goal then masks and social distancing would be just as required for those who are not vaccinated.

Biden's order says vaccinated OR tested weekly.

This resource explains how the Catholic Church’s teachings may lead individual Catholics to decline certain vaccines. It is intended for Catholics who have made a sure judgment in conscience to refuse a vaccine and should be adapted to fully reflect their beliefs and reasoning. It is not a decision-making guide and does not address all legal, medical, and moral considerations.

All employers are different and some are being strict on religious exemptions while others are lenient. You don’t need to refer to your church or get a letter from a religious leader, you just need to write out what your deeply held belief on vaccines is and back that up as best you can. For instance, if your reason for not taking the vaccine is fetal cell lines, you should attest that you also avoid the many other meds tested on fetal cell lines. You should also attest that you have avoided other vaccines for yourself and your children, and provide proof if you have it. A lot of employers are having people fill out detailed questionnaires that attempt to verify that you have held the belief for a long time and that you consistently apply it. I’ve heard it’s a really bad idea to mix in anything that sounds conspiracy theory-ish. Finally, I’ve heard you should use your own words and not a letter you pulled off the internet, etc. They will know you did that and it will make you look less sincere.

Keep in mind that at most jobs, dishonesty is cause for dismissal. You want to make sure that what you are telling coworkers lines up with your letter. Don’t take Advil at work if you say you don’t use medicine with fetal cell line research. Don’t brag about getting a religious exemption like you beat the system.
