I have asked God to not make me a Calvinist if he doesn't want me to be a Calvinist. In the very least, I believe that God wants me to dispel myths about Calvinism, so that people will be relieved of their prejudice against Calvinists.

Since I am a Calvinist who believes in God’s irresistible grace, I accept that God will make me a provisionist, Arminian, or Molinist if He so chooses, according to His own glory and purposes. (Psalm 115:3, Psalm 135:6)

At the end of the day, your love for God is more important than the rightness of your theology:

1 Corinthians 8:2-3
Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.

- Important role..in the Welsh Revival (1904-5).

Interesting history..

How is that even possible? Didn't Wesley hate Calvinism, despite working with George Whitefield?

I call myself Reformed only because it helps those with whom I talk to understand where I'm coming from. To my mind, it is simply because it most easily fits what I think. I didn't even know that the body of conclusions I had come to (as a result of my despair and prayer and study) was called Calvinism/Reformed until someone else told me so.

In the early days, Methodism wasn't exactly a monolithic group, but more of a discipleship system. The relationship between Wesley and Whitefield, to use a FB euphemism, was "complicated". The two had a falling out over predestination in 1740, with Wesley and Whitefield going separate ways, ala Paul and Barnabas. Whitefield headed for Wales to plant Methodist societies; these would become what was known as "Calvinistic Methodists".
It didn't take long for Whitefield to realize that his gifts were in evangelism, not administration. By 1742, bridges between the two were rebuilt, with Whitefield ceding leadership over the Welsh Calvinist societies to others to pursue traveling evangelism. This returned him to being a co-worker with Wesley rather than a competitor.
The Calvinistic Methodists lasted until the early 1960s, when they were absorbed into a Presbyterian denomination in the UK. Probably their best-known representative was Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

I thought they merged into the United Reformed Church along with most of the English Presbyterians and Congregationalists?

Nope. Ironically, the Presbyterian denomination they belong to, the Presbyterian Church of Wales, did not so much "absorb" them but actually constituted a name change for the Calvinistic Methodist group more than anything else as per their website:
