For all the times I've been to jury duty, I've never seen anyone swear on anything. For that matter, we don't even swear in the socialist paradise of California: “Do you solemnly state, under penalty of perjury, that the evidence that you shall give in this issue (or matter) shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?”

That's religious fundamentalism, not that different from what you'ld find ISIS or the Taliban believing in. "Book X says it, I believe it, that settles it". And it always requires force and violence to persuade somebody to accept that kind of logic.

If your "book X" is the bible, then yeah, that does settle it.

Do you live by a book other than the bible?

Here in NC, not the red depths of the south but the south none the less, while bibles are widely available in jury pool rooms it is made explicitly clear to all present that they are in no way required to be used when one is sworn in. It is also made clear that one can affirm the statement without swearing to it if they have ethical issues with swearing/oaths.

The worst I got for choosing not to use a bible at jury service swearing in was a bit of a scratched up face from the prospective juror beside me who offered a bible which I politely declined to take.

The federal oath reads "I do solemnly swear or affirm..."

Yeah these executive orders don't affect anyone. ...

Perhaps your new to internet discussion. But your reply seems to be to a different post than the two you quoted. (That is to a post asking for you to detail a specific Exec. order that you thought was impactful. But you didn't even respond usefully to that one as you posted phone screen shots of what seems like a list of CNN links to various Biden exec. orders. No one can click on them. You didn't advance the discussion or follow that posters request to be specific. [listing everything is the opposite of specificity])

As for the posts you quoted. Mine was about the obsession people have with a minor issue like abortion and the other was about the "dictator" quote from Biden. You didn't respond to those statements easier.

Slow down and be more careful. It will help with your participation.

Did you read the article or the NYT editorial it referred to? The NYTimes didn't refer to him as a dictator at all; their objection was the transient nature of the EOs.
Looks like he admitted it to me!
Huh. He said there are things you can't do by EO unless you are a dictator. Do you know which things he meant or if he had tried to do any of those things by EO?

You mentioned more than once that Biden was talking about the EOs in Trump's first month, but the interview was given in October 2020 at the end of Trump's term not at the beginning.

When Donald Trump became president, he signed 12 executive orders in his first month in office. Joe Biden called this " Executive Overreach" saying "you only find this in a Dictatorship". When Joe Biden became President, he signed 28 in his first 2 weeks in office, and he isn't finished. By his own words, is he looking to become a dictator?

* PLEASE NOTE - I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I am a concerned American who feels if he was undoing damage then his Executive orders should have matched Trumps. Am I wrong? If you are a Democrat, are you still not a skeptical American, concerned that Biden might not do what's right or are you blinded by your opinion and would Trust the man with the lives of your children?
Trump signed 220 Executive orders.

But! -- it turns out that after the 2020 election Trump signed 25 new Executive Orders in that short time span from November 12, 2020 through Jan 20th, 2021!

List of executive actions by Donald Trump - Wikipedia

Of course, as you'd expect, Biden has been in part just reversing some of Trump's huge number of EOs.

So, you shouldn't read too much into the number. Look at in a year, and that might help paint a more clear picture.

That's debatable, but not the subject we were discussing. In what way do any of those executive orders make the US a dictatorship, or President Biden a dictator?

-- A2SG, that is what you said you were worried about....let's not stray from the subject......
It was just a question based on his own words.

Feeding people, preventing them from getting evicted, and distributing vaccines aren’t good for the American people? This stuff actually upsets you?
he voted NO to those things

You should look at Article 11 Section 4 of our state constitution :)

NC Constitution - Article 11 - North Carolina General Assembly

As for the OP, according to Biden's own words, then we would fit his own definition. His words.....let us be honest.

Ok, looked, now what? Shall we move back to article 6 section 8 to cover other anachronisms?

Then contrary to what you say, you do believe the bible settles it?

No.

I don't understand your reasoning. It doesn't follow that because fundamentalist Christians believe the Bible is true, and that I don't have any book I base my life on, therefore the Bible must be true.
