The Spirit, as Jesus stated, speaks only what He hears. So Jesus has not informed me to stop drinking coffee.

The root that causes one to be unclean springs from the heart of a person not by what they eat or drink.

17“Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

True what you say. I would refer you to Romans 14 as well though. Some would argue coffee is a drug. I am to abstain from alcohol as well. God Bless if these are allowed in your life.

I am just curious if anyone has been convicted by the Holy Spirit against drinking coffee.

I know God allows some things in people's lives and not in others so I am just curious about your relationship with coffee.

God Bless.
Wow... ...amazing... I think the end is right around the corner...

--Most so called believers eat swine, and things strangled, and like their steaks nice and bloody, but here we are, talking about coffee, and with great interest.

God said, plainly, what He wants us to consume and not consume.

How can this still be a mystery?

If you feel conviction about coffee, I can tell you, by the word of God, that it ain't from the Holy Spirit, for coffee is clean for consumption, period.

Moreover, if you've got the time to worry about a relationship with a food, I don't know what the hell you're talking about! and I'm not sorry about that.

The elixir made from coffee beans does in fact have a long history in Islamic regions. African tribes mixed the crushed beans with animal fat and molded them into balls to eat as a stimulant before battle.

The Holy Spirit has convicted me of drinking any sort of caffeine, including coffee. Does this mean caffeine or coffee by nature is bad? Of course not. Again, Romans 14 is clear.

Out of curiosity, why do you feel that God wants you to abstain from caffeine? That is, what is the reasoning behind your decision? No pressure to respond if you don't want to; it's a personal decision. I'm just curious to know your thought process.

Some people feel chemically controlled. If you fit that category, well, stop. I have experienced that with alcohol. One glass and I’m off the reservation. Too many carbs and mood swings kick in. There’s no one with warning signs to excuse me from making a personal evaluation and making a rule that is rightly, solely, for me. No mention of coffee in the Bible, but if I hear sheep bleating “blaaaack”, I’m done with the bean.

I am sorry if my original post was misinterpreted. God allows some things in people's lives and others he does not. The same exact thing. Romans 14 is clear on this.

The Holy Spirit has convicted me of drinking any sort of caffeine, including coffee. Does this mean caffeine or coffee by nature is bad? Of course not. Again, Romans 14 is clear.

The original intent was to see just how many people have had the same conviction.

What matters is if YOU have had the conviction.

God created the coffee bean, sugar, vanilla, the cocoa bean, the ability to make alcohol, chocolate, etc

He also made cannabis, but I expect that was intended as medicine rather than to get high

He also made tobacco. Don't know why but maybe there a use to it other than smoking he had in mind

God is a creator

Only God could have made these things

Oh yeah, I'm heating up some water right now to have a cup of Taster's Choice (instant) with some sugar and hazelnut creamer!

Third cup today.

I will admit that I did have a little much this morning (usually I'll have a couple cups a day).

But, the fix for that is drink water and work harder and/or exercise!

It wasn't too long ago when I'd have some coffee and a hardcore energy drink...so...I'm doing well...quite well!

*cheers*

Jesus made wine and authorized the serving of it as His first miracle. Alcohol is not forbidden though drunkenness is rebuked. "Moderation" That said I don't drink but my faith would allow me to. Its easier for my to not drink then to drink in moderation. While caffeine is considered a drug its effects don't cause erratic behavior or uninhibited behavior or loss of control in regard to drinking coffee. I'm on my third cup as a write this and feel normal.

Now I remember why no one ever wants to take the last cup from the pot...

I'm drinking coffee and grounds right now...

Oh well, I'll just pretend I'm an African warrior!
