Any scriptural evidence that evangelized Gentiles are to keep the Sabbath?

He gave "commands" even stricter and far more reaching than the original in Torah, but again that does not NEGATE Torah, it strengthens it! Things such as if you anger, it is as murder (Matthew 5:21-23). If you even look at a woman sexually it is as if you already committed fornication/adultery with her in your heart (Matthew 5:27-28).

Becoming angry is not the same as murder and nowhere does the Bible say it is, but I know the verse you really meant. It`s in 1st John "15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." Anger is not hatred, not same emotion.

In the case of Matthew 5:22 -> Jesus is talking about the Age to come and in that time Satan will be bound and his influence on Man removed for 1000 years. Everyone alive on earth at that time will know the Lord so conditions will be different.

At the present time it isn`t a sin to be angry. "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath"

He worded it badly but I knew what he really meant and suspect you do also. "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight"

We were talking about legalism or in other words, works for salvation, maintaining part or all the Law as justification etc

Justification...salvation...because we all sin and sin is the transgression of the Torah...but that does not negate it...nor does grace. We are freed from the curse. Grace is not a license to sin...

Speaking only for myself, I never say the Torah has been negated for what does Paul say?
"Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."

The Law retains all it`s power to condemn.
"For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law"

In my case, I am an exception and the Law has no power over me because Jesus gave me His righteousness.

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

"But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe"

"Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus."

The word hatred does not appear in Matthew 5:22
The word anger does not mean hatred in the Bible or in the dictionary.

an·ger

Learn to pronounce

noun
  1. a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility.
"the colonel's anger at his daughter's disobedience"

There`s a big difference between anger and hatred. Hatred is defined as intense dislike or illwill both of which are sinful.

The word is "orgizomenos". There can be a difference and there can be similarities, and a person can have both...

Ok then, I`ll go another path. The angry person in 5:22 is in danger of judgement so it is logical to believe that they have not yet transgressed into hatred. If they had transgressed into hatred they would recieve the judgement.

Hi Yeshua, we can debate all day long and if you refuse to believe what Paul and Jesus wrote about the Torah then it is a futile attempt. It is your preconceived belief that we are under the laws of the old covenant and apparently nothing Paul wrote or Jesus said will change your perception.

For me Jn15:1-14 is absolutely clear that Jesus kept Torah and we are to keep Jesus commands.

15 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Jn 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1JN 3:19-24
And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Yes, we know we are of the truth not because we believe Messianic or SDA teachings, but what Scripture teaches. Jesus fulfilled Torah and no one is under the laws of Torah. As Paul so plainly wrote in Gal 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Surely you know what "till" means.

There are quite a few scriptures that discuss Paul`s zeal to do good works. It`s not a hard mystery to unravel.

James says-> "works" show "faith" , to paraphrase, he is saying that works provide evidence for faith and that faith compels a person to perform works. He calls faith without works "dead" because without works of some kind you have no evidence to bear fruit with. He doesn`t says works are the salvation but he gives works the weight of evidence that faith exists.

Now some Paul verses and there are toooo many to list them all. But in these verses Paul says we are created in Jesus, new creatures to do good works. In verse after verse Paul speaks as though his churches understand that believers do good works. In one of these verses Paul talks about some people who denied God by their works and were reprobate to good works. This strongly implies that he didn`t have any confidence in the salvation of this type of Christian. Paul states in another verse that Jesus was purifying to himself people who are zealous to do good works. Last verse sees Paul giving caution against allowing good works to become unfruitful. Which fruit is evidence of faith and we all need to bear fruit.

When correctly understood I find Paul`s view on works actually a tougher standard then the one set by James.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

25Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

14 And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
Works of the law or works as in good deeds?

I think we are saying the same thing but you call it "under the laws of Torah". I call it the "curse of the law" and THAT is what we are no longer under...Yeshua nailed it to the cross.

Works of the law or works as in good deeds?

James 2
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

James didn`t teach works of the Law for salvation. He believed the same thing Paul did.

Christ, in fulfilling the moral law, abolished it. | Sabbath Truth

It has been said that Christ, in fulfilling the moral law, actually abolished the Ten Commandments. However, let's take a look at what Jesus actually says in Matthew 5:17–19:

  1. "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets" (v. 17). Jesus certainly did not do the very thing that He came not to do!
  2. "I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." According to Webster's Dictionary, "fulfill," when applied to a law, means "to answer its demands by obedience." It here means the opposite of "destroy," as in the following scriptures: "And shall not uncircumcision, which is by nature, if it fulfill the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?" (Romans 2:27) "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). "If ye fulfill the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well" (James 2:8).

Thus, those who make this argument would have Christ teach that He came not to destroy the law but to destroy the law. That doesn't make sense, does it?
  3. "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in nowise pass from the law" (Matthew 5:18). Heaven and earth still remain; thus, we can know from Jesus' own lips that the law was not and has not been abolished.
  4. "Till all is fulfilled" (Matthew 5:18). This passage was originally written in Greek. In the Greek language, words that go together must share certain qualities, such as gender or number. The word "all" is neuter in gender and plural in number. Therefore, it cannot refer directly to “law,” which is masculine in gender and singular in number. “All” refers to all things respecting heaven and earth that are spoken of in the prophets (Old Testament).

The term “fulfilled” in this verse comes from a different Greek word than the word “fulfilled” in the expression, "I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill" (verse 17). Here in verse 18, this word means “to come into existence, be created, exist by creation” (William Greenfield, A Greek-English Lexicon to the New Testament). This word “fulfilled” is translated as “made” in John 1:3: "All things were made by him" (KJV). So, again, “fulfill” actually means the opposite of “destroy.”
  5. Now comes Christ's own conclusion: "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least [or, as George Campbell renders it, "shall be of no esteem"] in the kingdom of heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:19). And to emphasize the point that the law is not abolished, Christ proceeds to explain certain precepts of the law in question in their most spiritual and comprehensive sense.
This law could not cease when Christ came. Three interesting "tills" or "untils" in the New Testament provides convincing evidence of this truth:

  1. "The law and the prophets were until John" (Luke 16:16). At the time of John the Baptist, there was a change in the law and the prophets, when he began preaching the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God did not do away with the law and the prophets but added to them. Christ confirmed this in the next verse, making the law firmer than the very pillars of heaven and earth: "And it is easier," He said, "for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail" (verse 17).
  2. "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in nowise pass from the law."
  3. "Till all be fulfilled" (Matthew 5:18). That is, ; till all those things to be restored are brought into existence by a new creation. This brings us to the new-earth state, in which righteousness shall dwell (2 Peter 3:13; Psalm 119:172; Isaiah 51:6, 7), and the Sabbath shall continue while eternal ages roll (Isaiah 66:22, 23).
This objection suggests the false doctrine that Christ is the minister of sin. Rather, we believe the Scriptures teach that Christ came to conquer Satan and sin. But according to this objection, the great object of God in sending His Son is frustrated, and Satan and sin triumph at last, for Christ grants men full liberty to transgress all the commandments of God!

As we have seen, the argument that Christ abolished the law is refuted by the Savior’s own words in Matthew chapter 5, by Peter’s prophecy in 2 Peter 3, by the testimony of Old Testament writers in Psalm 119 and Isaiah 51, and by the fact that Christ cannot be the minister of sin.

What English word replaced "enochos" ? Trying to understand how you see this. I wish I could read Greek but long ago I made a decision to focus on understanding the language in the King James. I do not regret that decision because it enabled me to comprehend the gospel much quicker.

Yes, it is. But it tells us that God is happy when we keep the Sabbath :) That won't change in the New Covenant because God does not change. What pleased Him in the past will please Him in the future as well.

In the Jewish culture, yes. Because their week starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday (so that Saturday is their 7th day of the week). In our culture the week starts on Monday and the 7th day is the Sunday.
You probably know why we are supposed to rest on the 7th day, right? God created the universe within 6 days and rested on the 7th day. That's why we rest on Sundays in our culture.

Edit: If I misunderstood your original question and you want to know whether the gentiles have to rest on Saturday according to the Bible - the answer will be a simple "No" :)

I’m not sure where your from but according to the calendars in America Sunday is the first day of the week not Monday. Now I would agree that Monday is typically the first work day of the week so I can see your relevance in that aspect. Personally I believe if we rest one day a week it’s fine no matter which day it is. I’m sure I’ll probably get bashed for that statement but that’s just what I gather from Romans 14 and Jesus’ statements concerning the most important law.

The law demanded that the adulterous woman be stoned to death.

“'If there is a man who commits adultery with another man's wife, one who commits adultery with his friend's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.”

What English word replaced "enochos" ? Trying to understand how you see this. I wish I could read Greek but long ago I made a decision to focus on understanding the language in the King James. I do not regret that decision because it enabled me to comprehend the gospel much quicker.

You should be careful of the KJV because it’s not a literal word for word translation. It has the translator’s interpretations embedded within the translation. personally I prefer a more literal translation so I can make my own conclusions as to what the message is trying to say.

For anyone interested:

The big problem for you is that your reasoning doesn`t account for the fall of Israel and the delay in the fulfillment of the Prophets.

Here in Germany Monday is the first day on calendars (see screenshot above somewhere), which is also suggested by the term "weekend", meaning that Saturday/Sunday are the end (6th and 7th day) of the week.
