How Do I Avoid The Occult?

Probably Deuteronomy 18:9-11 is the best Biblical list of occult practices. These or anything like these are part of the occult, which I would define as something that involves contacting the spirit world or engaging in supernatural power apart from the work of God.

Here are the notes from the Fire Study Bible on that passage:

18:9-11 DETESTABLE WAYS OF THE NATIONS. These verses contain a list of occult magic practices, common in the religions of Canaan. These things were an abomination (i.e., disgraceful evil) to God and forbidden by him. Those among God’s OT people who practiced such things were to be put to death (Lev 20:27). The NT declares that those who practice such things will not enter God’s kingdom (Gal 5:20-21; Rev 22:15).
18:10 WHO SACRIFICES … IN THE FIRE. Moses reminds the Israelites not to follow the example of the Canaanite practice of child sacrifices to pagan gods, which was used as a means to influence future events (cf. Lev 20:2-5).
18:10 DIVINATION … OMENS. Those who practiced divination sought to predict future events or uncover secrets by the aid of evil spirits or by some human means (see Rev 9:21, note). In contrast, God’s way for us to gain truth is to listen to faithful prophets who declare his word (vv. 14-22).
18:11 CASTS SPELLS … IS A MEDIUM. This list includes mediums, spiritists or anyone who calls up the dead or consults with the world of spirits (i.e., demons) in order to discover secrets, predict the future or gain power. Communication with the dead is actually communication with demons (cf. 1Sa 28:8-14; 2Ki 21:6; Isa 8:19). Deuteronomy 18:9-11 (FireSB)

You are in satans kingdoms now it is hard to avoid practically everything. In some way many groups, beliefs, etc. has a satanic or occultist influence or leaning.

Hollywood, art, science, government, music, media, tv, the many types of movements that spring up, holidays, new age teachings, the worship of the earth, etc....

Well, for starters, I don't think the word "occult" is in my Bible. But I have been told it means what is "hidden". I suppose this can mean, in Satanic stuff, how there are things which humans can not see, but they can be found by means of methods which are not God's way. For example, then, a psychic would be used to find out about certain hidden things. But it seems, usually, that humans seek a psychic in two basic wrong ways >

> and they do not first seek God for His personal correction and then His personal guiding according to all He knows.

Notice something, here > in this example of occult practice, the person is greatly limiting oneself to only a few items which another human is able to give to him or her, for information. But if the person were to trust in Christ and be personally guided by our Father in His peace, the person would be guided according to all which God our Heavenly Father knows.

So, the occult approach is extremely limiting, plus the individual seeking it is very limited to oneself and what he or she is trying to get for oneself. The person is limiting oneself to what he or she is capable of knowing, and then likely the person will limit himself or herself to how he or she is capable of acting on what he or she supposes himself or herself to have discovered.

Of course, humans can do things, this way, without using occult methods.

So, I would say, in order to avoid occult things and other wrong methods, first seek God for howsoever He pleases to relate with You. And expect Him to correct you of however you have been mainly worrying about your own self and getting what you want. And His guiding will automatically keep you clear of anything which He knows is Satanic.

And yes fear is sin. And fear can keep you messed-up so you keep going about things in the wrong way. And worry is such a pathological lier and abuser; we would never let another human lie to us and abuse us as much as worry does; yet, we can keep on trusting and even obeying worry, instead of trusting and obeying Jesus. And worry can isolate us, so we can feel we are on our own.

But God says,

"I will never leave you nor forsake you," > quoted in Hebrews 13:5.

And we have >

"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

Worry and fear can have us boasting, actually, about how much we care. But humble trusting has us acknowledging and depending on how God is the One, really, who truly cares for us.

I really want to please God, and I want to make Him happy by saying "no" to the things He hates, which isn't only the occult, but other things, but the occult scares me, and I don't want to make Him upset by being in the occult. I also don't want to have to worry about this anymore and I would like to stop making threads about if something is occultic or not. I do not want fear anymore. It is a very horrible feeling and it won't get me anywhere. Plus, that's a sin. A sin that I am very bad about, and I am weak in that area.

Prayers for me to overcome the sin of fear and to have victory over all sins, transgressions, and iniquity of mine would greatly be appreciated, as well as keeping not only me safe from the occult, but also having victory over all sins, transgressions, and iniquity, for everyone else, and keeping everyone else safe from the occult would be appreciated too and I would also like advice on this issue.

Well, if you want to avoid it, you have to know what it is. 'Occult' simply means 'hidden' and another word for it is 'Esoteric.'

Anytime you've got people saying they've got 'secret knowledge,' well, that's what the occult is at it's most basic.

There are a lot of 'occult' schools. These are 'mystery religions,' Ultimately, they all form a philosophy which is an exact opposite of Christianity.

Western Occultism goes by several names in scholarship; Illuminism, Western Esotericism, Hermeticism. etc. The largest occult organization in the West is the Freemasons, which in and of itself does not go into any great depth, but most modern schools of Occultism are branched out and the Freemasons are the main organization by which to be recruited into a more serious Occult group. Major Freemason Occultists include Albert Pike and Manly P. Hall.

Offshoots of Freemasonry include the KKK (through Albert Pike), Scientology (through Crowley and Parson, the Manson Family, and the Process Church of the Final Judgement, through Crowley and Scientology.

Occult practices include:
Kabbalah, Alchemy, Sex Magic, Tarot, Scrying, Astrology, Grimoires (Demon summoning/sorcery), Divination, Spiritualism,

Major concepts;
The return to the androgynous first being (e.g. this is sometimes enacted physically, such as with the Castrato, transgenderism, and the practice of creating the "male vagina" through subincision.)
The 'Grand work' - creation of the philosopher's stone (prima materia) which can be done chemically, sexually, socially, as a process for enacting change in the medium the work is worked in.
Illusion and deception as a means of control
Lucifer, as the light-bringer, saving man from the material world through the Fruit of the the knowledge of good and evil (Lucifer as the true god.)

First of all, here is the Biblical lens by which you should operate:

"Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." - 1 John 4:4

The "them" is the antichrist spirits mentioned in the previous verses, so it is pertinent here. Do not fear.

There is no need to fret over most of your household items unless you got them in an occult shop or something. I have received items from Christian friends and family who have traveled overseas and brought back trinkets which were not likely made by Christians, but I have not observed an increase in demonic activity in my life as a result of that in the years that followed. I've also had no ill effects from walking into a room when someone was playing Emperor (black metal) or from being in the same drawing classes as occult people - they must have saved their occultish activities for when they were at home.

This isn't to say that I listen to black metal or involve myself with occult practices or collect occult items or watch certain movies. I'm just not terrified that this or that will be a bridge to demons. I have enough to worry about: my own sin patterns. That is how evil grows in a person's life, primarily.

These people tend to want to get attention, refuse to listen to any facts or logic that might challenge their position, and tend to be quarrelsome. Ignore them, they are unworthy of your mental energy. If they're going after you personally, then you can either refute them if you are confident or simply tell them to leave you alone. Otherwise, don't agitate the snake.

This. It can be extremely stressful in day to day life because most of us don't have the option to simply unplug from the rest of society just to avoid this stuff. I'm extremely fond of tv shows and videogames but once you start noticing these things it's hard to unsee and it can really put a damper on your ability to relax and enjoy pastimes. It is so pervasive that you basically can't avoid it. You should try, but the only surefire way is to become a hermit. And like I said, that isn't a valid alternative for most of us.
I'm also an artist, and the status quo in the art community is such that it can be a really alienating experience to try building a platform when most of your peers enthusiastically mock everything you're about.
High quality Christian entertainment/media is in ridiculously short supply.

It can but and i hate to say but it will not be getting any better, and more than likely worse over time (that could be spread out over time though) but this year has been a very successful active year for satan.

I will give an recent example this herman cain who just recently died.
His official story he ran for president in 2012, and was a big trump supporter. The story is that he caught the virus at the trump rally because he was not wearing a mask.
What he was known for when he ran for president in 2012 was his 999 tax plan. What is 999 turned over 666. Anything coming from these people who just exist on the tv screen or media. I do not trust a single one of them.

I am also in art but mine interest in landscape and traditional type of art so i can avoid a lot of this.

Not sure if you have been exposed to this. But when Adam sinned eating the fruit, all that God had given man to rule over was lost. satan took away that from man that included the kingdoms of the world (of course that would be at the time of Adam, future kingdoms).

How do we know this, satan has possession of all the kingdoms of the world (with the nation of Israel being the exception they are Gods chosen people/nation)

When Jesus was tempted by satan out in the wilderness. satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world, if Jesus would worship him. Matthew 4

I did not realize this was stated in this way in Scripture before ...
"ruled by demons".
It is stated in the last book of the Bible, The Apocalypse,
this way >>
All the people/nations (except the remnant if any are left)
all the people/nations remaining on earth REFUSE to repent of serving(being ruled by) demons...

Thus another example of the perfect harmony of all the Creator's Word, through all time.
