I believe the idol that causes desolation is not based on carnal weapons.

It's a battle against our spirits.

Indeed, but more specifically, what are the abominations we see in the church that caused her to desolate? Do you know what these are?

Replacing the Holy Spirit with the bible.

Replacing Jesus with applications of teachings that do the opposite that He taught.

Replacing the Father with a counterfeit that is fairly abusive.

Also the anathemas of the early church councils appear to be associated as well. Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you. The sermon on the mount - one of the spiritual pillars of the faith is reversed resulting in a church that constantly crucifies Jesus afresh while praising them with their lips.

I'm fairly sensitive to the phenomenon so I may have missed some of the total causes.

I don't believe human armed forces have much to do with it.

I know I'm talking about an object our armed forces use to cause desolation.

As soon as Jesus died on the cross, everything changed.

Forget the "armed forces." The NIV is incorrect with its translation. It is NOT "armed forces" that countries has with guns. Rather it is Satan's armies of false prophets and christs.

Daniel 11:30-31 KJV
[30] For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.
[31] And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Satan was grieved and has hatred against the Holy Covenant - the people that Christ that confirmed a covenant with - True Christians. So Satan is having "intelligence" with unsaved professed Christian within God's congregation with his lying doctrines so they can pollute the Church with it. They effectively have caused the daily sacrifice to cease. The sacrifice needed for salvation has ceased because the church has become too apostatized that eventually leads her to desolate.

Daniel 11 has nothing to do with nation Israel today as most people believe. Daniel wrote about the congregation of Israel, the church, AFTER THE CROSS, when Christ has confirmed a covenant with. We are all part of Daniel's people in Christ!
