I am a 22_year old man with serious problems but they refuse to take me. I am having severe memory loss to the point where I can not remember information an hour ago, severe fatigue, weakness, slowed thinking, confusion, trouble concentrating, sensitivity to cold, depression, paranoia, foggy head, cognitive impairment, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, and neck pain. Any time I bring it up a nasty fight breaks out. I can’t go on my own because I don’t have any means to go. I don’t have a job. My mom always just says I been tested 100 times or that its because of the weather, or I am on the computer too much and my eyes strain or I am not sleeping. My mom is home all the time so I can't just go to the doctors and if I did they will find out when the insurance bill comes through. What do I do before it’s too late? B

Praying for you.

All of your symptoms are consistent with Lyme Disease (something I am pretty familiar with unfortunately, because my 21 yr old son contracted it 6 years ago).

Let me be clear however, it could be something else, and I am NOT a doctor (but I believe that you need to see one). How you go about doing that in your case I simply do not know. Perhaps you should talk to your priest and see what he might recommend doing?

God bless you!

--David
p.s. - Lyme Disease began in New England in 1975 (Lyme, Connecticut, actually), but it is EVERYWHERE now. The 4th most prevalent place for it in the world is Northern California, just FYI (again however, your symptoms could be caused by something else).

or I am on the computer too much and my eyes strain or I am not sleeping.
I do not know the facts about you, but yes we need to sleep. Ones now are saying every person needs even eight hours a day. Yes, there are people who claim they have very high level of energy so they only need a few hours of sleep a night; but it seems scientists are saying they are fooling themselves.

I trust God for how I sleep. I try not to attempt to control it, but be quiet in order for God to give me the right sleep. I think sleep is a miracle. And be quiet in prayer, so God does what He wants to do with me, in His peace. And then stay quiet with God, all the time, discovering always what He pleases to do with me and others. This is what I find that God's word says we need to do; and pray for God to correct me, as much as I am not living His way in sharing with Him.

Here is how I understand what I have read > it makes sense to me, of course :):) > sleep is not only for getting rest, but sleep steam-cleans our nerves so they can function better, more clearly. This is what I understand from things I have read. Resting might help give your muscles time to clear themselves of chemicals that build up during activity. But real sleep clears your nervous system of chemicals which build up because of passing chemical messages from one nerve to another.

And if you spend a lot of your time on a computer, this can lead to trouble.

Sitting too much can help your body to shut down and not operate right. We need to do loving activities, so our hearts are healthy and so our bodies are functioning right. Loving or not loving has a major effect on our emotions and our bodies.

Also, too much relating with a computer can help keep us from relating personally with other people. And then we can get bored because we are not taking on the challenge of finding out how to love. Learning how to love is part of our most worthwhile challenge and education we can get. And this, of course, needs to be with God > through Jesus.

"'Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'" (Matthew 11:28-29)

Alcoholism is a leading cause of early onset dementia. I am not a doctor and can not guess your problem. Too much caffeine can cause insomnia. Lack of sleep can cause confusion. Bad diet without vegetables, whole grain and fruits can contribute to brain fog. Illegal drugs should be avoided. Marijuana lowered cognitive awareness.

People who are not very smart sometimes developed strength. Some of us had to load trucks, cut grass, sweep, pick fruit, paint and other manual labor in order to have a place in the community.

Maybe write a note to your parents, telling them your fears, and concerns, and let them know politely, that you will be going to see the doctor. Leave it on the table when you go.

Also I believe in divine healing, I will pray that God also heals you. But in the mean time go to the doctor.

Have you a friend or neighbour who could take you to the doctors, or could you get a taxi?
Yes, your parents would find out in the end, but you would have been by then, so what could they do? If you didn't go to the doctors and it got worse or you collapsed, it might be more serious, not to mention expensive.
I don't know what tests you've already had, but if it was something like M.E (Chronic fatigue syndrome) there is no test for that. Are there any medical websites where you can get access to a doctor, or phone your surgery to speak to someone? There must surely be some provision so that housebound/agoraphobic/severely depressed people can get medical treatment.

Are you being held in their home against your will? Can you walk out of the house anytime you want to?

My mom always just says I been tested 100 times or that its because of the weather, ....

This is concerning. None of your symptoms can be attributed to the weather.

Why is it that you don't have a job? Would you be allowed to have one if you wanted one?

Edited to add: a question someone else asked previously is very important too: Have you been tested a 100 times?

Hello @Nick Moser, when my son was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease, it was only after being tested for everything else in the world first. We knew that something was VERY wrong with him, but all the tests and studies either came back negative, inconclusive, or the doctors either didn't know or refused to acknowledge what they were looking at (like the white matter on his brain that showed up on one of his CAT Scans).

In fact, when we had researched the symptoms that he had and found them to be symptoms of Lyme Disease, we still had to force his infectious disease doctor to run the blood test for Lyme Disease, because she was sure he didn't have it (because our children's hospital had never seen a case of Lyme before our son came along). However, within a month of his diagnosis they had already found 53 more patients with Lyme Disease, patients they had misdiagnosed.

What I am saying is that you can run 100 different tests, but if they are not the right tests, then nothing will be found. Children's Hospital was tired of us and tried to shoo us away, but we knew that something was very wrong with Jonathan and we were determined to find out what it was so that he could get the help he needed (and in the end we were proven right to be persistent).

Again, I am not a doctor and I'm not saying that you have Lyme Disease, but if you know that something is wrong with you, you need to find out what it is or you may never get better.

Praying for you!

God bless you!

Parents won't let you? You are over 21---you can call an ambulance, since you are too weak, and also call the police and tell them you are being held against your will and need medical attention, they will show up with the ambulance. -Unless you are legally under their control, they will have to ask you what your desire is---wither to go to hospital or not, if you say yes---they take you. You will be held responsible for you medical bill at which point you tell them you are totally indigent and have no money and no insurance. They have people to handle the circumstances.

I live with my parents and have no where else to go so causing a fight would not be in my best interest

No, I'm sure.
But if you got a taxi to the doctor's/got a friend to take you/phoned the surgery for advice, and that resulted in you receiving the medical care you need - what could your parents do? Are you saying that they like to see you suffering and would want to to be completely helpless/dead?

You don't have to fight with your parents, but you are over 18 and they no longer, legally, have responsibility for you. Is there some reason you cannot be more independent? Are there no hostels that might take you in while you looked for work and allowed you to get medical treatment? Do you have no friends who might help you/offer a sofa for a week or so? Could you get a social/care worker on your side to stand up for you and support you?

Or do you want to spend the next 20 years or so completely dependent on your parents?

Prayers for you.

I'm not sure I understand the situation exactly. This is an ongoing problem and they've been testing you, seeking to find what's wrong, and can't find anything? Is that right?

In that case, I would first seek a different doctor. I'm not sure how to suggest finding the best one. Where I grew up there was a teaching hospital, and while it tended to be used by low-income people (and involved a lot of waiting), they were actually excellent at getting diagnoses. As a matter of fact, I'm told that they see out of state patients now for a flat fee (only $150 which includes treatment) so people often travel there from out of state. It's a state university medical center.

If your parents are frustrated because of lack of diagnosis, that's one possible situation. That can be difficult if something is wrong, because sometimes doctors want to give up too, and someone HAS to advocate for more testing/seeking.

If it's a matter of them being unable to pay, are you on their insurance? This is tricky, but you might be better off not being, if they can't afford to pay even with insurance. In any case, unless you are legally under their care as in with a guardianship situation, they are no longer legally liable to pay for your medical. So if that's the problem, that may need to be addressed. From here I'm not sure how.

Is it possible - at all possible - that your lifestyle IS creating problems? It doesn't sound like it to me unless you aren't telling how badly you might be living, but if that's the case (and I don't think so but just mentioning it), you could try a good diet, rest, drinking plenty of water, avoiding anything that might be causing a problem, excercise if appropriate, and give it a week or two and see if there's any improvement. I'm only saying this in case you really aren't taking care of yourself, because it is possible in extreme cases to get to that point. If you're already living well enough and have such a degree of problems it sounds like you do need to seek help.

I'm trying to understand the reason your parents don't want you to see a doctor. Understanding that might make it clearer what you can do.

Prayers for you.
