Why do a lot of people think men only want sex?

Maybe there will be less extra-marital sex if there was more equality of attraction between partners and marriage was more attractive. Just saying.

I'd say probably not .... people don't want the commitment and responsibility or marriage ..... easier to just be selfish

You know people not wanting to commit may really just be a symptom of something else that isn't necessarily blamed on them.

I'm not blaming anyone in particular ... just stating that the prevailing mindset of mankind is to be selfish .... it's our nature.

Obviously men don't only want sex, but they do desire it nonetheless, as is human nature. We are compelled to seek fulfillment in another, have children and start our own family. Men and women do seem to treat sex differently.

Though, how any Christian could believe God created man and woman equally after reading Genesis somewhat boggles me. The punishment each receives shows the nature of men and women clearly and generally corresponds to reality. Men are cursed to work and strangely we don't find satisfaction until we have completed our work, whatever that might be. Women are cursed to feel pain in childbirth and for a majority of women this is something that brings their lives meaning and great happiness.

I dunno about that. My husband is a big romantic. He's made quite a few grand romantic gestures. And I love sex. I think both sexes want the same things, we just get them in different ways.
In the history of mankind, far more women have declined sex from wanting men, than men declined sex from wanting women.

Is there evidence of that?

Is there evidence of that, given that inappropriate content for women is often written, rather than visual?
Yes. Far more straight men have purchased playboy magazine than lesbian women, and far more gay men purchased play girl magazine than straight women

And, like I said, inappropriate contentography for women is often in the form of words on paper, rather than pictures.

Men and women do seem to treat sex differently.

I suspect that this is, in part, because for men sex is not typically used as a weapon against them (as in rape). Women seem to encounter sex - even when it is consensual - with a much more heightened sense of vulnerability.

Though, how any Christian could believe God created man and woman equally after reading Genesis somewhat boggles me.

So God created humankind in his image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

That looks like radical equality at an ontological level, to me.

Men are cursed to work and strangely we don't find satisfaction until we have completed our work, whatever that might be. Women are cursed to feel pain in childbirth and for a majority of women this is something that brings their lives meaning and great happiness.

Well, there you're talking about post-fall, not about what we are created to be.

As for the rest, I suspect there's a lot to do with socialisation there. The narrative tying goodness in women with motherhood is pretty compelling.

Romance Novels are not considered inappropriate contentography

When they focus on explicit descriptions of sexual activity, then yes, they are.

I haven't read it myself, but if even half the things said about it are true, Fifty Shades of Grey is inappropriate contentography, for example.

Was the book restricted age 21 or over? If not then it was not inappropriate content.

When I look up the inappropriate contentography (from πορνεία = fornication and γράφω = writing) in a dictionary, I see:

1. the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement

2. material (such as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement

Nothing about age restrictions. And, to the best of my knowledge, Playboy is not restricted to age 21 or over either.

My mistake; actually the age is 18 in the USA.

Probably because it's far more common for women to be viewed as something to get a man off, and what woman would choose a partner who is only interested in making sure he has fun and isn't going to try to make sure the woman has a good time as well?

When a woman is having sex with a man, does she have to make sure the man is having a good time? I think not. I think you are making my point

Christians aren't afraid of sex. LOL

Christians know God created sex for couples to enjoy…
Of course many christians are afraid of it.

they believe it was a product of the fall and God hates it, but allows it ONLY for making babies.

Not only sex outside of marriage but perverse/criminal (ie children) .... sex trafficking is rampant in the world.
we need to bring back the death penalty for all of that.

Never heard such a thing ... nobody I know who is christian hates it ;o)

How beautiful and pleasant you are, O loved one, with all your delights! Your stature is like a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters. I say I will climb the palm tree and lay hold of its fruit. Oh may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, and the scent of your breath like apples, and your mouth like the best wine. It goes down smoothly for my beloved, gliding over lips and teeth. I am my beloved’s, and his desire is for me.

~ Song of Solomon 7:6-1

The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs.

~ 1 Corinthians 7:3

Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

~ Ephesians 5:33

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.

~ Matthew 19:5
