Why do a lot of people think men only want sex?

I think more young men than young women are virgins these days. The inequality is pretty sad.

Got a source for that? Because it seems to me that there has to be someone else involved the first time you have sex. And given that the majority of people are heterosexual, chances are a woman is going to be involved.

The only way out of it is to say that women are more promiscuous than men, and the evidence doesn't seem to support this. Promiscuous America: Smart, Secular, and Somewhat Less Happy

I agree. I think women are more interested in romance, and men are more interested in sex.

I dunno about that. My husband is a big romantic. He's made quite a few grand romantic gestures. And I love sex. I think both sexes want the same things, we just get them in different ways.

Entirely possible that it isn't a one-to-one matchup here

I noticed before that Christianity focus more on telling down on men and young boys about "lust" and sexual thoughts than it does to women. So, women get a pass and are free of guilt from having thoughts about the opposite sex?

I think it's because on average men are more interested in sex than women.

Is there evidence of that?

but there is a reason why men far outnumber women desiring inappropriate contentography.

Is there evidence of that, given that inappropriate content for women is often written, rather than visual?

Men don't only want sex. Most of us also want bacon. If I were to be propositioned by a woman of loose morals, I'd probably turn her down. If I'm seeing a good deal on bacon, I'm going to be eating a generous portion of bacon.

I like bacon and I’m glad I’m not Jewish ;)

But not all "known truisms" are true. Hence my request for evidence.

Too many people have said it for so long that it would be a bit foolish to deny peoples experience like this. No clinical trials to my knowledge lol

The bible seems to take it the other way around. 90% of the sex stuff in Song of Solomon is about HER desires and pleasures.
there is a reason why men far outnumber women desiring inappropriate contentography. The 1# consumer of playboy magazine was straight men. The #1 consumer of playgirl magazine was Gay men.
Old data.

I read a recent study that said women using inappropriate content is almost to the same level as men; and one site reported by far the largest group of users of male gay inappropriate content was straight women.

Yeah, why are Christian's so afraid of sex? What's with that.

Christians aren't afraid of sex. LOL

Christians know God created sex for couples to enjoy…but only inside the marriage relationship. Many many many christians enjoy it. We believe it is not to be put on public display. Children are exposed too way too much, way too early in their lives in regard to sex.

We don't see it as simply a physical encounter ... but as a very intimate emotional encounter as well between two people who are dedicated to one another.

If sex were kept in the context of marriage there would be more positive outcomes, a few listed here.

Promotes protection and stability in the family unit - father/mother/child relationship
Promotes stability in society as a whole, both emotionally and economically
Promotes respect for one another as persons, not physical objects
The abortion rate would likely go down ... that is less unintended pregnancies
There would be less venereal diseases

Married Sex offers Unmatched Emotional Intimacy
Married Sex Provides An Ongoing Psychological Connection
Married Sex promotes the Safety and Security of a Forever Commitment

am sure a lot more that I'm not thinking of.

Maybe that worked better in the old days where more people were able to find marriage, and sooner. Today linking sex only to marriage is obsolete. Less people getting married today = less people having sex. It's a vicious catch-22 cycle.

less people having sex because of not getting married? You have got to be kidding LOL Not only sex outside of marriage but perverse/criminal (ie children) .... sex trafficking is rampant in the world.

Today linking sex only to marriage is obsolete. In secular society yes it is the prevailing practice ... and even bleeds over into those professing to be "christian" ... it's a like an incurable cancer and largely based on bodily gratification, rather than on loving intimacy and respect for one another.

It's the world we live in sadly.

Maybe there will be less extra-marital sex if there was more equality of attraction between partners and marriage was more attractive. Just saying.
