I will also add that although I don't like Canada publically funding abortions, Canada is absolutely a far better run country than the U.S., and a better place to live. The only thing going against them is the cold weather.

No problem with Canada's policies.

Fetuses shouldn't have rights, certainly not rights that exceed the person in whom they exist and from whom they take sustenance. Birth confers the rights afforded to a legal entity.

I believe it should be that way everywhere.

That, of course comes to the problem. Murderers here who target pregnant women are not charged for double homicide as the fetus is not considered a person. There's been a recent case where exactly that was the outcome. Our laws are unlikely to change as well as it is firmly ingrained in the average Canadian's mind that abortion is a fundamental human right for women that only "religious fundies" want to take away.

Unborn babies in Canada still have the right to life. They just VIOLATE that Right in Canada and the laws allow it. When God knits the DNA of mom and dad together and breathes in a soul/spirit, that person receives Life and by God's Authority, they receive the Right to keep that Life which God has given. No law of man can remove what God has given.

Meanwhile, in the real world, women have rights of autonomy, and the decisions they make are not yours. If you’re so against abortion, then don’t have one, or better yet, you can step up and raise them. Until then, keep crying tears in your beer.

BTW, what did Jesus have to say about abortion?

I don't think that opinion is even based on the Bible, if that is what you're saying. I don't see where the Bible says definitively that God breathed a soul into the embryo at the moment of conception. Doesn't say He didn't, either.

If the Bible did say that, I would be 100% in agreement with him. Although personally the mere fact that God MIGHT have made that a child already is reason enough not to get an abortion, I can't see a strong enough case to deny that choice from others who may have a different opinion. We MIGHT be committing mass infanticide. That's where we're at.

That would be news that I have missed and it would negate having any type of advocate for the unborn to be recognized as a living person within the Canadian Parliamentary system. Case in point, Ashton Kutcher and Down syndrome children as a reason for having an abortion.

I have no intention to offend. But this thread reeks of self-righteousness. Don’t our laws violate God’s word, also? The 1st Commandment says not to place any gods above God. Yet our Constitution allows the worship of any god, many gods, or no god. It’s one of the most cherished rights in our country. If you believe the Bible, this is legal permission to sin. And in God’s eyes, is one sin any worse than another?

For the most part I agree. I was born and raised in Canada, but looking at the state of things in the US I'm increasingly thankful for it, despite our own set of problems.

Yeah, the teachers' and postal workers' strikes. Important mail getting lost. Rob Ford is premier of Ontario (enough said). The elderly couple in the BC nursing home getting split up. The aborigine in Manitoba waiting for 28 hours in ER before dying there. Cell phone and utilities service is terrible compared to U.S.. Canada is not nirvana.

But if anything is a good measuring stick, on the day of the Newtown mass shooting in the U.S., what was headlining the Canada news? The Ikea monkey.

They also allow women to go topless on public, something that should be permitted throughout the US.

I'm considered pro-choice and never had an abortion or plan to. I know people, that had safe legal abortion. Some of these people claim to be pro- life. I do prefer animals more ,that people . But never had an abortion.
