Hitler disarmed his people.
Trump supports private gun ownership.

Some points:
1. A Godwin, already? I knew the level of discourse here was going down hill, but that was less that a dozen posts in.
2. Hilter didn't disarm his people. This is a
weird and common mistruth promulgated in US gun control debates that has been repeated and thoroughly debunked.
The truth, as usual, is much more complicated. The Nazi's barred certain elements in society they deemed as enemies (Jews and "Social Democrats", for example) from owning firearms, but did not disarm the German people as a whole. On the contrary, Nazi firearms laws mildly loosened restrictions.
Some history:
Germans were barred from private firearms ownership from 1919 to 1928.
After 1928, under the Weimar Republic, firearm ownership was allowed, but a licence was needed to own a firearm. A separate licence was needed to carry one in public. Basically, very strict gun control.
The Nazis maintained these laws in general when they came to power, but they did use the firearms registration list to seize guns from certain groups.
In 1938, the Nazi government passed a couple of gun laws. The chief one of these liberalised firearm access for "German citizens" and Nazi party members (lowered legal age from 20 to 18, allowed anyone to apply for a permit for a rifle or shotgun, still required a licence for a handgun, expanded licence period to three year). They also passed laws specifically banning Jews and certain other groups from firearm ownership and from working in the arms industry.
3. Trump's record on firearms legislation is a mixed bag (as it is with almost anything, as he usually just takes the position that he thinks will make the person(s) he's talking too happy at that particular moment in time).
At one end of the spectrum, he's advocated illegally taking guns away from people (“Take the guns first, go through due process second,”) and from the mentally ill in particular and supported the ban on bump stocks. The administration also passed legislation allowing the CDC to resume some studies on gun control and mildly increased background check registry strength by requiring additional agencies to report to it.
However, the Trump administration also revoked laws to limit firearms access to the mentally ill, effective allowed blueprints for 3D-printed guns to be made public without any restrictions (by quietly ending a couple of legal cases) and removed gun export restrictions.
