28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

To estimate or count the cost of building a Tower one must know the cost of materials and labor. He must therefore determine how many stones are needed to complete the Tower and also how long it will take him to lay each stone so he can work out the labor costs.

The cost to Jesus to build the Tower was enormous. It would cost him his life.

SUMMARY

Jesus said " My fathers house has many rooms". The dimesnsions given for the city are vast. This in itself speaks volumes - many will be saved. How good is that ! Just how many rooms could you get in that city can be calculated by doing simple maths. Having done the math it becomes apparent that this is not likley to be a literal building . So what exactly is it and why do we get the measurents from the Angel.

It is my view that the city is symbolic for the Church from the beginning to end. The measurements are a measurement of the extent of God's Love.

PSALM 108

For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

EPHESIANS 3:18
And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of His love, 19and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.…

The Temple in Ezekiel's visions had side rooms all around the temple walls for the priests. Similarly - it is my oppinion that the stones in the walls around New Jeruslamem total the number of those redeemed by Christ. This number has been calculated in this thread.
