The average American uses nearly three rolls of toilet paper per week—which means Canada's forests are quite literally going down the toilet. Leading US toilet paper, tissue paper, and paper towel brands use only virgin fiber pulp for their products, and that pulp comes mostly from the old boreal forests in Canada.

Lots of paper towels and TP made with recycled paper. Yeah, it would take a lot of cornflakes to need three rolls per week (Old man Kellogg pooped 6-8 times per day).

We are an average American family of 4, we use about 5 rolls in a week, that's 1.25 rolls per person per week...not the 12 you say we use. I think Germans probably use about the same as well.

Guy goes to the doctor and says " Doc, how can i make my arm muscles really big?"

Doc opens the draw in his desk and hands the guy a roll of toilet paper.

The guy looks bemused. "What am i supposed to do with that?" He asks.

The doc said "Rub it over your arms 3 times a day, every day".

"What? Really? Asked the guy. "How will that make my arms bigger?"

Doc replied, "It worked on your butt!"

I can't imagine that's a completely accurate amount, but some people never learn proper paper usage and just use a giant wad of it with every wipe.

I usually can do it with three sections folded, making sure I rotate around the square, checking at times to make sure I do not wipe anything back onto me. I rarely get darker skinned. But it's an art.

I don't think China has much wood for making toilet paper, unless they somehow get stuff from other countries. But I don't know. I wonder if they use toilet paper or some method or whatever.

When I lived out, I would do what I did, then gently use leaves, and use a stick to "stir-fry" my poop into the dirt so it would be totally blended in so flies couldn't use it, then push some dirt over it and re-cover the area with leaves.

There is a solution.

Americans should bundle up their used toilet paper and ship it back to Canada by the truckload. Industrious Canadians (with gloves on) will then recycle the used TP to make fast food containers for sale back to the Americans. Used fast food containers can then be shipped back to Canada for conversion to toilet paper. A perfect environmental circle.

As well as being practical this idea incorporates a subtle sense of poetic justice.
