Forgive me if this has already been asked, but since you are so insistent that Christians must keep Sabbath, I was just curious as to how exactly do you observe the Sabbath? do you keep Sabbath according to all the requirements written in the law, or do you simply not work? I am sincerely curious. Thank you in advance for your answer.
May the Lord Jesus open your eyes to the fact that "the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came to be realized through Jesus Christ" (John 1:17).
There is no scripture that states the law of Moses does not include the Ten Commandments.
As if you are a trusted/established authority to tell me what I should or shouldn't be doing in regards to things of God.Stop going against God's will then .
Keeping the law and the Commandments? You are fallen from grace.
There's no sabbath day in Genesis. You claim there is because the 7th day of creation. You need to note what the text says and only what the text says. The 4th commandment says wherefore which means as a result of.
I'm eternally saved and a child of God. I've fallen from nothing.
Cheers though.
I actually observe Shabbat myself. But in my own way. The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath, as per Jesus' teaching.Hello brother Cody nice to see you here and welcome.
Your post is my prayer for you and everyone here in this forum. God however advises us to examine ourselves to see if we really are in the faith *2 CORINTHIANS 13:5. Now if JESUS says to us that all those who FOLLOW the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of GOD are not following GOD *MATTHEW 15:3-9 Where in all of God's WORD does it say that God's 4th commandment has been abolished or no longer a requirement for christians today? If there is no scripture does this not worry you?
God bless

I actually observe Shabbat myself. But in my own way. The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath, as per Jesus' teaching.
But I do believe God's mercy covers those who are His, and so in regards to following the commands of God, we are all in our own personal walk to finding what that looks like, all of us coming from different backgrounds of knowledge and having different amounts of wisdom. So I have no reason to worry for fellow saint's salvation just because they don't see it necessary to observe the Sabbath.
You didn't answer my question.Firstly brother, thanks for your question but let's first get something clear. We are saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD *ROMANS 13:8-10; HEBREWS 8:10-12. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.
According to God's WORD God's ETERNAL LAW (10 commandments) in the NEW COVENANT give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172.
God's 4th Commandment is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is when broken *ROMANS 3:20. According to God's WORD aone, All those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.
This is the reason of this OP. JESUS says all those who FOLLOW the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of GOD are not following GOD *MATTHEW 15:3-9.
Now if there is no scripture that says God's 4th commandment is abolished and no commandment that says Sunday is now a HOLY day, who should we BELIEVE and FOLLOW, GOD or man *ROMANS 3:4?
..........
Now do your questions from your post.
HOW DO WE KEEP THE SABBATH?
WHAT DOES GOD'S 4TH COMMANDMENT SAY?
EXODUS 20:8-11
[8], Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
[9], Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
[10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
[11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.
WHAT DAY IS GOD'S SABBATH?
v10 The SEVENTH DAY of the week. (Saturday)
WHEN DOES THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK START?
GENESIS 1:4-5
[4], And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[5], And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
A day in God's time is the night (darkness) and the light make up one day. The DAY in God's WORD starts at SUNSET and ends the following SUNSET. So God's 4th Commandment Sabbath would start Friday at SUNSET and end Saturday at SUNSET.
ALL UNECCESSARY WORK TO BE DONE BEFORE FRIDAY SUNSET
EXODUS 16:22-23
[22], And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
[23], And he said to them, This is that which the LORD has said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath to the LORD: bake that which you will bake to day, and seethe that you will seethe; and that which remains over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
MARK 15:42, And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath
The preparation day is the 6th day of the week. This includes preparing to stop all business and secular work as well as any domestic work; cooking, cleaning; shopping, buying and selling that can be done on any other day of the week.
IT IS LAWFUL TO DO GOOD ON THE SABBATH?
MATTHEW 12:5-12
[5], Or have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
[6], But I say to you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
[7], But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless.
[8], For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day
[9], And when he was departed from there, he went into their synagogue:
[10], And, behold, there was a man who had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
[11], And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
[12], How much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
MARK 2:27, And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath
It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
WHAT IS LAWFUL ON GOD'S SABBATH?
1. Remembering the creator and his creation (Exod 20:8-11)
2. Rest from all unnecessary work (Ecodus 20:10-11)
3. Doing good (Matt 12:12)
4. Prayer (Acts 16:13; Matt 21:13)
5. Worship the creator (Isaiah 58:13-14; Ex 34:14; 1KING 9:6; Rev 14:6-12)
Song, praise, bible study, helping others, preaching the gospel, resting, prayer, seeking God, remembering the creator and his creation. Walking in nature, going to church with like minded believers. (too many scriptures)
WHAT IS NOT LAWFUL ON GOD'S SABBATH?
WORK; all business and secular work as well as any domestic work; cooking, cleaning; shopping, buying and selling that can be done on any other day of the week and anything to do with work (Exodus 20:8-11; Ex 16:22-23; Matt 21:13).
.............
There is no purpose in FOLLOWING any of God's LAWs including the SABBATH if it is NOT done through FAITH that works by LOVE because it is ONLY as GOD writes his LAW to LOVE then we can take up our beds to follow him. LOVE is the fulfilling of GOd's LAW in those who BELIEVE (Rom 13:8-10)
God bless
You didn't answer my question.
You didn't answer my question.
Thanks Brother ...When Jesus told the woman at the well , the hour is coming and now is , when true worshipers will worship in spirit and in truth , for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him . For God is Spirit and His worshipers must worship Him in Spirit and Truth .Hello brother NeedyFollower, nice to meet you and thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I like your name title. I think I am also a needy follower. I can do nothing without JESUS.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. It seems that we have a similar view of History in some of the examples you outline above. However, where does it say as you have claimed above in God's WORD that Sunday worship is a commandment of God? How do you get Sunday out of the scripture this is the day that the Lord has made?
According to God's WORD brother We are saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD.
God's WORD however says that God's 4th commandment is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. According to God's WORD, ALL those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD *PHILIPPIANS 2:13. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.
JESUS says all those who KNOWINGLY follow the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God are not following God *MATTHEW 15:3-9.
I personally believe God has his people in ALL Churches and is calling them out to worship according to his WORD in Spirit and in TRUTH *JOHN 10:16; JOHN 4:21-24; REVELATION 18:1:4.
Back to the OP. Where in God's WORD does it say that God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are NOW COMMANDED to keep SUNDAY as a HOLY DAY?
Who should we BELIEVE and FOLLOW, the teachings and traditions of men that break the Commandments of God or the WORD of GOD?
God's Sheep hear his Voice (the WORD).
God bless.
Where have I ever posted that God did not give his law to Moses? If I have never said that God did not give his law to Moses why do you pretend here that I have? I have only stated to you and anyone else here that God's ETERNAL LAW (10 commandments) is the work of God alone the same as the SHADOW laws written in the BOOK of the law by was the work of MOSES guided by God's Spirit.May the Lord Jesus open your eyes to the fact that "the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came to be realized through Jesus Christ" (John 1:17).
Where have I ever posted that God's ETERNAL LAW (10 Commandments) is not referred to in the BOOK of the law of MOSES? If I have never said that God did not give his law to Moses why do you pretend here that I have? It is the BOOK of the law that states that GOD'S ETERNAL LAW (10 commandments) is not the law of MOSES but the work of GOD alone, spoken and written by God unlike the BOOK of the law which is the work of MOSES and written and spoken by Moses. There is no scripture that states the law of Moses does not include the Ten Commandments.
Rubbish. God's WORD is only provided to show God's truth. Only God's WORD is true and we should believe and follow it *ROMANS 3:4. JESUS says all those who follow the teachings and traditions of men are not following God not me *MATTHEW 15:3-9. Now brother prove from the word of God alone that I have said anything here to decieve others. If you cannot then why pretend that I have? This is only bearing false witness on your behalf as I have only provided God's WORD and have asked for God's WORD in response to the questions in this OP. If you have God's WORD then share it. If you do not have God's WORD then you only have your own words that argue with God's WORD. Where is the scriptures that say God's 4th commandment have been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day? 28 pages so far and not a single scripture. Does this not worry you?LoveGodsWord, you love your word and using your word to try to manipulate God's Word to attempt at deceiving others with your doctrine of delusion, yet praise be to the Father of lights that the Light pierces the darkness, this post exposes your deceit.
Your words brother are not God's WORD. Do you have any scripture to share? I guess not.Of paramount relevance, you build your doctrine, your teaching, on your unscriptural foundation of shifting sand.
Firstly brother, let's first get something clear. God's WORD does not teach lawlessness. We are all only saved by the blood of JESUS and we are saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8.*EPHESIANS 2:8. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD *ROMANS 13:8-10; HEBREWS 8:10-12. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.Judaizers confute keeping the Law with the Blood of Christ, and I can write this unabashedly because in this thread a Judaizer wrote "The new covenant is made up of the Moral law", yet the Lord Jesus said "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood" (Luke 22:20). It is Christ that kept the Law, and we in the new covenant of His blood inherit His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Exhibit one, your words "God's ETERNAL LAW" with your meaning that the Ten Commandments are separate from the Law do not occur in God's Word. Your words with your meaning are a man-made construct. Shame on you for writing that only God's Word matters and in the selfsame post you insert your own words. But, there is more.
Now brother, please show me where I have ever posted that God's 10 commandments are not written and referred to in the MOSAIC BOOK of the law from the OLD COVENANT *DEUTERONOMY 31:24-26; EXODUS 24:7? Please also show me anywhere where I have ever posted that God's 10 Commandments written on stone were not given to MOSES to give to God's people? Now brother if I have never made these claims that you are saying why do you pretend that I have? Your only building strawman arguments that no one is arguing about. If no one has ever said the things you are claiming then you have no argument now do you. If you have no argument then why argue things no one is talking about?Exhibit two, your words "10 commandments they are not the law of MOSES and never have been" demonstrate your subtraction of scripture since Deuteronomy chapter 5 includes the 10 commandments, and let us not forget the words of the Apostle John, "the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came to be realized through Jesus Christ" (John 1:17); therefore, you are in error again. My previous posts stands in the Truth! These errors of yours occur in the very first sentence of your post.
Yes brother Soo your point here is???Deuteronomy 5, just prior to the inclusion of the Ten Commandments, starts thusly: 1 Then Moses summoned all Israel and said to them:
"Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I am speaking today in your hearing, that you may learn them and observe them carefully. 2 YHVH our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. 3 YHVH did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, with all those of us alive here today. 4 YHVH spoke to you face to face at the mountain from the midst of the fire,5while I was standing between YHVH and you at that time, to declare to you the word of YHVH; for you were afraid because of the fire and did not go up the mountain.
Deuteronomy 6, continuing on from chapter 5 - it's start cited above, six starts thusly:
1 "Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which YHVH your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, 2so that you and your son and your grandson might fear YHVH your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.
In Deuteronomy 6:2, Moses said "to keep all His statutes and His commandments" thus intimately binding the writings of chapters 5 and 6; in other words, we find a cohesive Law given through Moses (John 1:17) which is the Law of Moses referred to in Acts 15:5.
Let's take a few minutes to look at another episode of Jesus and the Sabbath (I already mentioned one of the Apostle Matthew's recounting a different episode of Jesus and the Sabbath in another post which was Matthew 12:1-8):
For this reason the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath. But He answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working." (John 5:16-17).
Jesus is our believers example (John 13:15).
My example, Lord Jesus, made it clear that working on the Sabbath according to the will of God is A-OK. As previously cited, Jesus gives rest (same post as contains the Matthew 12:1-8 citation). Jesus is so very, very kind and loving to fulfill (Matthew 5:17).
