Christians show so much faith in so many areas so why not here also.

The creator of the universe made this planet especially for us.

Do you know the probability of having a planet the correct size, and distance from the sun, with a single large moon, and atmospheric conditions, and temperature range, etc. to make our home?

Even with the sin problem, this planet is almost the Garden of Eden when compared to the rest of the solar system.

The amount of money and energy required to make a lunar or Mars colony work make it totally impractical.

When I was a youth, there was a great deal of talk about building cities under the ocean. That idea suffered from the same realities as a future Mars colony.

The United States is many trillions of dollars in debt.
We cannot afford another money pit, with little or no return on the investment.
Are we going to borrow money from China to pay for our space colony?

We do not even have a space truck (shuttle) at present, because of the money required to make the project work.

I am a retired science teacher, who likes science fiction movies, and sometimes science fiction becomes science fact, when it is practical.

However, there is difference between science fact and science fiction.

The laws of physics rule the difference between the two.
The physical conditions on Mars dictate that reality.

Sorry, I have to go for now. I need to wash my flying car...

Man will never create a planet as good as the one God gave us. Life here is a miracle as you say. But this biosystem like our very genetic code is broken by fall, flood, mankinds mistakes and the meddlings of fallen angels. To some extent we can recover the ideal environments we lost when we left Eden even if we can never recreate the garden itself. Bubbles of earth life can indeed be formed across the solar system adding important dimensions to the human story.

For example in a shrinking world freedom will become a greater and greater concern. A habitat out there may one day be more free than one here. A controlled environment may well be invulnerable to mass epidemics and if properly managed to famines also. A journey to Mars and the establishment of a colony there is an act of immense courage and indeed of faith. It is the triumph of hope over the limitations of the prison of our fallen world.

American companies are not under the same financial constraints as the American government and especially global ones like Amazon. Also there is a popular global demand for such expeditions which may be enough for the financing of this.

You need to get flying car mark 2 . It is also a submarine and washes itself ;-)

If you want to pay for and build a Mars colony, go for it...
.
The thing is that the "you" now includes millions of people. The possibility of big multinationals, already making money from earth related space business and with the infrastructure to go further ,teaming up with crowd sourcing and global merchandising initiatives and even contributions from governments for specific projects related to the mission, to raise the cash is not so far fetched. Finally after a life time of waiting it is happening. I believe the church needs to be a witness in the context of both the vision and reality.

I've been wondering, if people start living on the moon or mars, would that have an effect on Jesus' return? It seems like it would be hard on premillennial interpretations: would a colony on Mars have to get the mark of the beast too? I also wonder, what's the longest time you think could pass before Christ's return?
4 Though you ascend as high as the eagle, And though you set your nest among the stars, From there I will bring you down," says the LORD. Obadiah 1:4

Jesus could go to Mars just as easily as He came to earth.

As for the longest time, there is no way to know. Probably sometime before the sun expands into a red giant and consumes the earth in five billion years or so.

You evidently have not studied prophesy in Daniel or Revelation.

Tell me what the mark of the beast

It is all about worship. Figure that out and you will have the mark of the beast.

Matthew 15:9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Revelation 13:4
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Revelation 7:11
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God

If you are not joking then please get some help/advice from your pastor as you are completely delusional.

What makes you think the pastor is not delusional also. Birds of a kind flock together

By letting the holy spirit guide you with out preconcieved ideas.
Isaiah 28:13
But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
Isaiah 28:10
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Psalm 119:4
Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
Psalm 119:15
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
Psalm 119:100
I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

Do you judge Scriptures according to other Scriptures , or do you judge Scriptures according to TV and secular science books ?

I suppose we'll find out eventually.

Matthew 7:13-14 King James Version (KJV)
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

I want to be among the few not the many.
