There was a lengthy thread on this when it happened. It wasn't actually a "lynching," and the young kids responsible weren't "Neo Nazis."

Also, the 8-year old boy wasn't "black."

It seems to have been some kind of bizarre and extremely dangerous game that got out of hand (all the kids took turns putting their head in a noose). Police investigated, but afaik found no reason to lay charges.

The police investigated. They found no reason to charge anybody.

You, on the other hand, seem to have decided without any facts that it was "attempted first degree murder."

And I wasn't really keen on your suggestion that a bunch of kids aged 12, 13, and 14 should be charged as adults for what appears to be an accidental injury.

It is sad this happened but thankfully the child survived. I agree after reading the articles it is not how the news phrased it and I don't think it was intentional either, at least from what the children and parents are stating.

I think from the article the only thing one could conclude is that a parent of one of the teens who tied a rope around an eight years old’s neck said it was a tragic accident.

It's also pretty definite that an 8-year-old half-Brazilian boy was injured. There are photographs of that.

Whether that can be done depends on the age of the teens and state law. Moreover, even if it is there are laws limiting the punishment of minors ( even if charged as adults. For example federal law forbids life without parole for minors unless someone ACTUALLY died I am pretty sure attempts do not count. Also, attempted murder can be hard to prove, anyway ( because usually you have to prove BEYOND a reasonable doubt that they wanted the person dead ( without a confession that can be tough,) Also, some states have laws limiting the punishment of minors ( even when charged as an adult) that are stricter than the federal law above.
